Free-Reduced Grace Period Ends Soon
Dear North Campus Families,
The Paulding County School District is partnering with Paulding County Government and the Paulding County Department of Transportation to make traffic-flow improvements to Bob Grogan Drive.
Work will begin after Friday morning arrival (Sept. 12). By Friday afternoon, the traffic gore (see the image below) in front of Sammy McClure Middle School will be removed and new directional arrows painted allowing vehicles traveling eastbound in the left lane to either turn left into McClure MS or continue straight to the North Paulding High School campus. Additionally, the traffic light on North Paulding Drive in front of Burnt Hickory Elementary School will be adjusted so that pedestrian traffic crossing the road is synced with vehicle traffic exiting the school following student drop-off. These changes should help traffic flow more efficiently.
Here are some tips to keep in mind:
- If you are driving eastbound on Bob Grogan Drive to Burnt Hickory ES, please stay in the right lane.
- When turning onto North Paulding Drive toward Burnt Hickory ES, both the right-turn lane and the middle lane may turn right on red into the school’s parking lot.
- If you are driving eastbound in the left lane on Bob Grogan Drive toward North Paulding HS, please be courteous and allow cars turning left out of McClure MS to merge into traffic. This helps reduce congestion leaving the middle school campus.
- When turning left out of McClure MS onto Bob Grogan Drive, please use caution and watch for traffic from both directions, especially once the traffic gore has been removed (see the image below).
- If you are dropping off students at both North Paulding HS and McClure MS, please drop off at the high school first and then the middle school. This prevents the need to turn left out of McClure MS onto Bob Grogan Drive.
- Please follow all speed limits and traffic laws, and stay alert for students and other pedestrians at all times while driving on campus.
If you are the parent or guardian of a student driver, please review this information carefully with your child. Please emphasize the importance of obeying the speed limit on Bob Grogan Drive and remind them to use extra caution and watch for traffic from both directions if turning left out of McClure MS, especially once the traffic gore has been removed.
The Paulding County School District would like to thank Post IV Commissioner Dean Schneider, County Administrator Tabitha Pollard, and the Paulding County Department of Transportation for their help in making these changes happen. The school district continues to work with county government to identify and plan future improvements to the North campus.
