Hello, Monfort Families!
It's hard to believe we're already wrapping up October! We've had such a wonderful month filled with learning, fun, and exciting activities throughout our building.
We have an exciting Friday ahead with our Halloween classroom parties and our schoolwide Halloween parade at 11:15 a.m.! The parade will take place outside, weather permitting, and we hope to see many of our families there to enjoy the fun!
Just a friendly reminder that Friday, October 30, is also a half day of school, with dismissal at 12:09 p.m.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!
Warmly,
Debbie Nawrocki
Monfort Principal
PowerSchool Attendance Intervention
UCS is announcing an exciting new program we are implementing starting the beginning of November. To enhance communication regarding student attendance, we will be utilizing Attendance Intervention, a PowerSchool product designed to streamline updates and alerts for families. With Attendance Intervention, you will receive text messages and email alerts directly from teachers and school leaders, keeping you informed about your child's attendance in real time.
What makes Attendance Intervention unique?
· No Login Required: Messages will automatically be sent to the phone number and email address the school has on file for you.
· Direct Communication: Each message will come from a unique phone number associated with the sender. This direct line allows you to easily save the sender’s number in your phone and reply directly to them, if desired.
· Absence Alerts: Families will be notified if a student is absent from school in a timely fashion.
· Say Goodbye to Language Barriers: Attendance Intervention translates text and email messages into more than 90 languages, based on the preferred language on file.
We are confident that this program will enhance communication and ensure we are all working together to support our students’ successes. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the school office.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education.

Going for the Gold! Second Graders Celebrate the Olympic Games! 🏅
After completing their CKLA reading unit on Greek mythology, our second graders brought their learning to life with their very own Olympic Games! Students competed in a variety of events, including a “marathon,” discus throw, shot put, javelin throw, and relay race. They also explored the artistic side of ancient Greece by writing poetry and creating sculptures out of Play-Doh, inspired by Myron, a famous Greek sculptor. What a fun and creative way to celebrate their learning!

Raptor System- Volunteers
Volunteer applications need to be renewed annually. If the volunteer application was submitted in November, a new application does not need to be renewed until November (one calendar year). Raptor will automatically send a renewal application when the current volunteer approval is approaching its expiration date.
We are asking for your support to help keep our students safe.
All visitors to the classroom areas of our school are now being asked to swipe their driver’s license or government issued ID before entering the main part of our building. This swipe will quickly provide an updated check against national sex offender registries. This process is for anyone who is going past our school office for any reason.
If you are planning to volunteer in our classrooms or work directly with a student, you will need to have a volunteer background form on file. The form is located at this link. The background check involves multiple state and federal law enforcement data bases.
We greatly appreciate the involvement of our families and the difference you make at Monfort. Thank you for your partnership with this extra step that will improve safety in our school.
Download Raptor Safe App
It is strongly recommended parents/guardians download the Raptor Safe app in order to create a visitor profile. The Raptor Safe app offers a convenient and secure way for visitors to manage and verify their identify before arriving at school. This profile provides a Raptor Passport which can be used to quickly and easily check in at the school office via the app.
Attendance
On the day of an absence, parent/guardian are asked to report an absence before the school day begins. Calls may be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will be received by an answering machine during non-school hours at 586-797-5799. Absences may also be reported by email at officemonfort@uticak12.org. Please do not call the main line, use the absence line or report by email. Documentation or other verification may be required to establish an excused absence. Please review the Board Policy 5115 below for more information regarding student attendance.
✈️ Planning a Vacation? Families may request up to 10 days of pre-approved vacation time by emailing Mrs. Nawrocki. Anything beyond 10 days will be marked as unexcused, and students may be dropped from enrollment if more than 10 unexcused days occur.
BREAKFAST
Breakfast is served from 8:45-9:05 am. If your child is eating breakfast, please be sure they arrive between 8:45 and 9:05 am.
Breakfast counts are taken the day before.
Lunch counts are taken the morning that lunch is served.
