Checking In/Checking Out
Please bring your Driver's License in when you are bringing a child into school late or checking him/her out early. This step has been added as a safety measure!
Good Choices/Homecoming Week
During the week of September 8-12, SCES will celebrate both Good Choices Week and Homecoming Week. Please check out the schedule for themes for each day. We encourage all of our students to participate while not losing focus on learning each day.
Our PTO Spirit Store will also be open on Friday, Sept 12. Be on the lookout.
Attendance Policy and Procedures
Attendance is crucial for all students! Over the summer, our Attendance Team met with members of the Department of Juvenile Justice, DFCS, the Sheriff's Department, and the Superior Court to develop a policy that ensures students are in school and learning everyday! Click the link to view the Attendance Policy and Procedures.
IT Specialist Appreciation Day is Tuesday, Sept 16th. Thank you Mr. Roland.
Infinite Campus
All families must update their child’s information for the 2025-2026 school year. Please complete the Annual Information Update (also called Online Registration or OLR) through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Each family must complete this form by November 1, 2025. If families do not have internet access, they may visit the Board of Education office to complete their application.

7 Habits of Highly Effective Students
Be ready for your student to tell you all about how they can become leaders of their own lives. Check out these 7 habits we will discuss throughout the school year at SCES. Help us to reinforce these habits at home with our students.

Georgia Reads Day September 22
SCES will celebrate Georgia Reads Day on September 22, 2025. We hope you will use this day to shine a spotlight on the joy, power, and importance of reading and literacy in our schools and communities! Georgia Reads Day is an opportunity to reinforce structured literacy practices through creative activities. While the day may be perfect for a special read-aloud or guest reader, it is more than just reading! It is also about engaging students, families, and communities in activities for vocabulary development, knowledge-building, writing, speaking, and listening. This toolkit was created by Georgia educators to support your planning for Georgia Reads Day.
Check out the plan Mrs. Godwin has created for SCES. Teachers can share the poster contest flyer with parents and inform them we will wear red on September 22. We'll share more information as the time grows closer.
Don't forget to visit the office or your student's teacher to pay the SCS District Technology Fee. SCS provides each student access to a chromebook in each classroom. The $25 fee protects the chromebook from accidental breaks and damage that may occur throughout the year.
iReady Reports
Each student should have brought home a parent information letter and a BOY Parent Report last week. Check your students book bag for this information. If you did not recieve this report, DOJO your teacher. This BOY report should give families information on your student's present performance level and their goals for the school year. Please contact your teacher, Mr. Truette Johnson or Mrs. Paige Miller for more information.
