Live Access to Student Assessment Information is Now Available
With the 2026-27 school year underway, live access to your child’s assessment information is now available through the “Grades and Attendance” tab in your PowerSchool Parent Portal for grade 1-6 students. Your child's gradebook may only have a few assessments at this time, but additional assessment information will continue to be added throughout the school year. We encourage families to review the gradebook information within the Parent Portal regularly to learn more about what your child is learning this year. More information resources about this assessment information and how to access the PowerSchool Parent Portal is available on the Student Assessment page of the Division website.
If you have any questions about how your child is doing this school year, reach out directly to their teacher or make a note to discuss it at the upcoming school interviews on November 24 & 25.
If you need help with your Parent Portal account, please email lisa.leitch@eips.ca or call the office at 780-467-2246.
Caregiver Education
Caregiver Series
Alberta Health Services is hosting a series of virtual caregiver information sessions focused on ways to support students’ mental health. The sessions are free and geared toward parents, caregivers, teachers and community members who want to learn more about challenges impacting children and adolescents. This November’s sessions are focused on understanding anxiety.
Visit Caregiver Education to see the monthly caregiver sessions.

Are Now Due
School fees for 2026-27 are posted to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and are now due. To help make fee payment as convenient as possible, EIPS offers several payment options, including a brand-new option this year—Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments, also known as E-Cheque. EFT payments allow you to pay directly from your bank account with no added fees, giving you added flexibility beyond credit or debit card payments.
Inclement Weather
Pine Street families, please be reminded that we do go outside for recess whenever possible, following the district’s Inclement Weather Policy AP 131. When the temperature drops below -22 (including the wind chill), or it is raining, we typically remain inside for recess and lunch hour breaks but if the temperature is warmer and conditions allow us to safely go outside, we typically do.
In the morning, students normally remain outside until the 8:25 a.m. bell. If the temperature is below -22 (including wind chill) students will be brought into the building at 8:20 a.m.
For the safety of the students, it is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that their children are suitably dressed for coping with weather conditions and arrangements have been made for alternate shelter for their child if no one is home.
With the winter season almost here, the school has a few reminders for families:
Ensure students have clothing appropriate for expected weather conditions.
If weather conditions are bad enough to impact student transportation, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) advises families directly, and posts updates on social media and eips.ca.
Decisions regarding bus cancellations are guided by an EIPS administrative procedure that states, “school bus service may be suspended…when there is a forecast or current temperature of -40 C, including wind chill factor, in one or more regions.” Other reasons for suspending or delaying school bus services include adverse weather and poor road conditions.
When school bus services are suspended, schools remain open to students.
For more information, contact EIPS Student Transportation at 780-417-8151.
Chip Day! Community Fundraising Project for Grade 3
Our Grade 3 students had a fantastic time at our first Chip Day! The excitement could be felt throughout the whole school as students worked together to bring their citizenship project to life. We are thrilled to share that our total sales were over $550, and after costs, we have approximately $350 to donate to our chosen charity at the end of the school year. We are so proud of our Grade 3 students for demonstrating teamwork, leadership, and a commitment to giving back to our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make our first Chip Day such a success!
