CMHS NHS Visits Louisville
The Clinton-Massie NHS recently took a trip to Louisville, Kentucky. The day started at Churchill Downs, where the group learned about the history of the Kentucky Derby and what goes into the world-renowned race. Highlights included making custom derby hats and a guided viewing of the race track. After lunch, the students explored the life and legacy of Muhammad Ali at the Muhammad Ali Center and took a brief ice cream break at Erhler’s Ice Cream. Countdown Louisville was the next stop, where the group split into three teams, each tasked with breaking out of their own escape rooms. While that was supposed to be the final activity of the day, things took an unexpected turn when the bus got a flat tire on the way home. Conveniently, the breakdown happened right next to an activity center! Students spent the next hour playing laser tag, arcade games, and roller skating before reboarding the fixed bus and returning home. This was a trip that no one will soon forget!
CM/GO BPA Headed to Nashville
Our Business Professionals of America members Olivia Carpenter, Liam Whittamore, Quinn McCoy, and Eli Martin will represent Clinton-Massie & Great Oaks at the National Leadership Conference in Nashville, TN, from May 6-10. Congratulations to Advisor Mr. Earley, and to all of the participants!
CMHS Leadership Students Lead Living History Project
Our Leadership Class students have been engaging in meaningful work through their Hometown Hero Veteran interviews as part of an ongoing living history project. Through these conversations, students are capturing and preserving the stories of local veterans, highlighting their service, personal experiences, and the lasting impact they have had on our community. This project not only honors those who have served but also helps students better understand the rich history within our own county. Additional interviews are currently being scheduled as we continue to grow this important collection of stories. If you are intersted in participating or know a member of our community who would be worthy to add to this collection, please contact our office for more information.

Laurel Oaks Prepare Day
Our sophomores have an exciting opportunity ahead with Laurel Oaks Prepare Day, scheduled for May 12th from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. This experience is designed to help students prepare for their future programs and get a closer look at what Laurel Oaks has to offer. We will depart from school around 9:20 a.m. and return by approximately 12:30 p.m. We look forward to providing students with this valuable, hands-on experience as they plan for their next steps!
College Credit Plus Information 2026-2027
Letter of Intent Due by April 1, 2026
Students who will be in grades 7-12 for the 2026-2027 school year are eligible to participate in College Credit Plus (CCP), Ohio's dual-enrollment program. Students can enroll in college classes and will receive both college and high school credit for their completed courses. If you are interested in participating next year, please see the information below.
Ohio requires that you see (in person or virtually) a CCP information session each year.
If you attended the in-person session on February 12, you do not need to view the virtual option.
If you did not attend the session on February 13, you will need to review the CCP Counseling Info 2026-2027.
Students and parents are to review the information and to complete the Intent Form/Counseling Form together.
Every student who wants to participate in CCP for the 2026-2027 school year must complete the Intent to Participate/Counseling Form by April 1. Even those students who have participated in the past must complete the form. Any student who fails to have the form submitted by April 1 will not be able to participate in CCP for the summer/fall terms. For students who have previously taken CCP courses, they do not need to apply again.
After completion of the Intent/Counseling Form, students will apply to the college(s) of their choice. Students in grades 11-12 may not need to complete placement testing; they may be exempt from testing if their GPA is over 3.0 and they have completed 2 English and 3 math credits with a B or better. For students in grades 7-10, they will need to complete placement testing at their college. You can Google "CCP" and the college's name and you'll find their procedures and processes. You can apply to all CCP programs online, and some colleges allow for virtual testing.
For those students who are attending a career center, we will share the Intent/Counseling Form with the staff at the career center so that they know that you are eligible to participate next year.
Sinclair is our partner school, and the courses offered at CMHS (taught by CMHS teachers) are all through Sinclair. Any student who plans to sign up for CCP courses at CMHS will need to apply to Sinclair and to set up placement testing with the college. Please note that as thousands of applications are being submitted, it may take the colleges a while to process CCP applications. For any courses to be taken at CMHS, students must have their application submitted and their testing completed by June 1. After that date, students may still take the course(s), but it will not be at CMHS (online or at the college campus only). Students will be given the option to select CCP courses at CMHS on their course selection sheets (which will be received in March).
Any questions that you have are likely answered in the presentations linked above, but for any other questions, please email your school counselor.
Fernside Grief Support
This year has been difficult for our community with the loss of students, alumni, parents, and families. As a 6-12 building, we are partnering with Fernside to help our students with grief support services. This presentation/video can help you learn more about Fernside and their programs to support children and families through grief (and you can also visit their website). We will be offering a school group every other Thursday beginning the week after Spring Break (Thursday, April 9th). There is no cost to the student or the school, but we do need parent/guardian consent for your student to participate. If you would like your student to participate, please reach out to the MS or HS Office. Thank you for your continued support as we work through this together.
