Tuesdays with Mr. Knoll
A message from Superintendent Knoll
Dear Canfield Community,
As we move further into October, there is so much to celebrate across Canfield Local Schools! From our students’ accomplishments in the classroom and on the playing field to the strong partnerships we share with our families and community, it is a great time to be a Cardinal.
Election Day is fast approaching. To help address questions that have been asked and provide clear, factual information, we have refreshed the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section on our website. I encourage anyone seeking additional information about the proposal and its potential impact on district operations to review this resource.
Congratulations to our Lady Cards Golf Team on an outstanding performance at the state tournament! We are incredibly proud of these student-athletes and the dedication, teamwork, and determination they demonstrated throughout the season.
Thank you to all the families who participated in parent-teacher conferences last week. These conversations are an important part of building strong relationships between home and school and ensuring our students have the support they need to succeed. We appreciate your time, involvement, and continued partnership.
I also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped make Homecoming weekend such a success. From the festivities and decorations to the activities that brought our students and community together, it was a wonderful celebration of Cardinal spirit. Thank you to our staff, student council, families, volunteers and everyone who helped create such memorable experiences for our students.
Finally, a reminder that Friday is Pink Day at Canfield Local Schools! We invite everyone to wear pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in support of the efforts of our students in the Teen Health & Medical Society. Thank you to these students for helping raise awareness and encouraging our school community to come together for an important cause.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and schools. When we work together, we make Canfield stronger. We are One Canfield!

LEVY INFORMATION
Frequently Asked Questions Updated
We have updated the Frequently Asked Questions section on the Canfield Local Schools website to address questions we have heard from our community—both online and during our recent public events.
The FAQ includes answers to many of the questions we have received about the district’s finances, the November operating tax, how revenue is used, potential impacts on district operations, facilities, state funding, and more.
Our goal is to provide clear, factual information and make it easier for residents to find answers to their questions.
Visit the Frequently Asked Questions page on our website to learn more.
THANK YOU, PRINCIPALS!
This month, we’re celebrating the incredible principals who lead, support, and inspire our students and staff every day. Our principals do so much behind the scenes and in the spotlight, from supporting teachers and students to building strong school communities and ensuring our Cardinals have the opportunity to learn and grow.
We are grateful for the leadership, dedication, and heart our principals bring to Canfield Local Schools every day.
Thank you, principals, for all you do for our Cardinal family! 🖤👏
HOMECOMING ROYALTY
Homecoming Week was a big success, filled with Cardinal spirit, school pride and plenty of fun! From spirit week to the Homecoming game and dance, our students made it memorable.
Congratulations to our 2026 Homecoming Queen and the entire Homecoming Court!
Thank you to everyone who helped make Homecoming Week such a wonderful celebration of our Cardinal community!
EIGHTH GRADE BAND NIGHT
Our eighth-grade band students took the field to perform alongside the Canfield Pride Marching Band at the Louisville game! It was a special opportunity for these young musicians to experience the excitement of Friday night football, perform with their older Cardinal counterparts and be part of a proud Canfield tradition. Thank you to our band directors and everyone who helps inspire the next generation of Cardinal musicians!
CVMS STAFF VS. STUDENT VOLLEYBALL
The gym buzzed with energy last week as our stellar seventh- and eighth-grade girls took on some athletic staff members in the annual Staff vs. Student Volleyball Game!
This fun PBIS celebration featured a concession stand, plenty of cheering, and lots of school spirit! Shout-out to 7th-grader Gavin Haus for singing the National Anthem!
INSIDE THE CLASSROOM
TRADITIONS AT CHS CREATE MEMORIES
Some of the best parts of high school are the traditions students look forward to year after year! Last week, our chemistry students brought science to life with experiments for some of our elementary students, Spanish students learned to salsa dance with Mrs. Grohovsky, and our school community came together for an enthusiastic clap-out to celebrate our Lady Cards Golf Team. These special moments connect students across grade levels, celebrate achievement, and create lasting memories—all part of what makes being a Cardinal so special! 🖤
FALL PEP RALLY CELEBRATES CARDINAL SPIRIT
Our annual Fall Pep Rally brought plenty of energy and Cardinal pride to the high school! Students celebrated Spirit Week, recognized our seniors and enjoyed fun games and friendly competition among the classes. With the marching band and cheerleaders bringing the spirit, it was a great reminder of what makes our school community special. Go Cards! 🖤
SRO KARIS LEADS FINGERPRINTING PROGRAM
SRO Karis spent time at Hilltop and C.H. Campbell fingerprinting our students as part of a child identification program.
Programs like this help families create emergency identification kits that can include a child’s fingerprints, photo, and physical identifying characteristics. Having this information readily available can provide parents and authorities with an immediate reference if a child ever becomes lost or is abducted.
Our Cardinals enjoyed learning how law enforcement uses fingerprints while creating an important safety resource for their families.
CARDINAL CHAOS TAKES THE STAGE
Cardinal Chaos kicked off its performance season last week with a gig at A La Carte Catering! Thanks to a generous grant from the Canfield Education Innovation Fund (CEIF), Mrs. Mullins purchased sound and instrumental equipment to help students perform at a more professional level.
With just six weeks to prepare, students learned a six-song jazz set featuring classics such as Sway, Something Stupid, Cry Me a River, Dream a Little Dream of Me, L-O-V-E and La Vie en Rose.
Along the way, they explored a challenging musical style, learned about sound production and new instruments, and developed problem-solving skills. "They also learned what it takes to be professional entertainers, engaging the audience with their talent, humor, and professionalism," said Mrs. Mullins.
We are proud of Cardinal Chaos for representing Canfield so well! The group plans to keep sharing its music throughout the community this year, hoping to bring its jazz performance to local nursing homes. Special thanks to the CEIF and Mr. George Malich for helping with the new equipment and making these opportunities possible! 🖤
CEIF AUCTION EXPERIENCE!
Four lucky students enjoyed a special Friday night sideline experience after winning the CEIF auction item! Jude, Ty, Bode, and Jack joined Superintendent Joe Knoll on the field, ran out alongside the players, and cheered on the Cardinals from the sidelines. It was an unforgettable opportunity to join the Friday night football excitement while supporting the Canfield Education Innovation Fund (CEIF), which provides grants for innovative learning opportunities for our students. Thank you to everyone who supports CEIF and helps make special experiences like this possible! 🖤
COMMUNITY PARTNERS INSPIRE C.H.C. STUDENTS

Our students learned about a variety of careers and heard firsthand from the professionals who make a difference in our community.
Thank you to all our Career Day participants for sharing your time, talents, and experiences with our students, and to our PTA for sponsoring this special event!
