School Schedule Update
School Schedule Update Beginning October 13
Beginning Tuesday, October 13, our school day will be adjusted slightly to add instructional time. Because Conroe ISD used an inclement weather day early this year, this change will help cover the missed day and provide a banked day in case of another weather closure.

Thank you for your flexibility as we prepare for the possibility of more severe weather this year.

Celebrating Our Students and Families
#1 Intermediate in Attendance!
We have some incredible news to share! Thanks to your amazing support in getting your students to school each day, our campus officially met our first 6-week attendance goal with an outstanding 97.61% attendance rateโthe highest percentage among all intermediate schools in the district!
Consistent daily attendance builds a strong foundation for learning, and this milestone is a direct result of our wonderful partnership with you. Thank you for ensuring your children arrive ready to learn, and for making our school community such a warm, joyful, and welcoming place. Let's keep this momentum going into the next 6 weeks!
**Coming SOON**
All our students will be receiving a special treat for coming to school and winning this award.
Friends of Collins
Thank you all for supporting our PTO's largest fundraiser, Friends of Collins! Thanks to you all, we were able to raise $40,836.00 for Collins!
Car Rider Line - Fast Passes
During Friends of Collins, we were able to auction off 7 car rider line fast passes!
If you pick your child up in our car line, please know that there are 7 cars with white fast pass signs that may go to the front of the line. These cars will be able to go to the first 7 cones up until 3:50 PM. If you are not a fast pass car, please do not pull up to the first 7 cones until a staff member waves you to start the rest of the line when dismissal begins. Thanks!
Is your child a walker?
Dismissal Reminder, Collins Families! We've received concerns from businesses at the Cochran's Crossing Kroger shopping center about cars using their parking spaces during dismissal. If your child is a walker, they need to be walking to a residence. If you are picking up by car, please use the Collins car line. Thank you for helping us be good neighbors!
Dress Code Reminders
Reminder about Dress Code:
Collins Intermediate follows the dress code guidelines outlined in the Conroe ISD Student Handbook. Please refer to the district handbook for complete dress code expectations and details.
- Clothing must provide appropriate coverage. Shorts, skirts, and dresses should be an appropriate length, with no exposed midsection or undergarments.
- Minimal, natural-looking makeup is permitted as long as it is applied before arriving at school and is not disruptive to the learning environment.
- Pimple patches should be skin-colored and non-distracting.
- Hair color should remain within natural hair color tones; bright hair colors are not permitted.
Additionally, any form of dress or hairstyle that the campus administration deems inappropriate, disruptive to the educational process, or a health or safety concern will not be permitted.
Gifted and Talented
We are accepting nominations for Gifted and Talented (GT) testing from October 1-December 18, 2026. Testing will occur in January/February, and results will be sent home in May. If your child has already been identified as GT, they do not need to test again. GT identification carries over from year to year. If you are interested in nominating your child for testing, please fill out the attached nomination form and send it to Lisa Lackey at llackey@conroeisd.net before December 18, 2026. Nominations will not be accepted after December 18.
Fall Frenzy
Dyslexia Awareness Month
October is Dyslexia Month! October 8th is wear red and October 27th is Dyslexia Night at the Jett Center.
Early Check Out During Lunch/Recess
Please avoid picking up students during their scheduled lunch and recess times.
If you need to sign your child out early, please try to schedule your pickup before or after their grade level's lunch/recess block:
5th Grade Lunch & Recess: 11:40 AM โ 12:20 PM
6th Grade Lunch & Recess: 12:30 PM โ 1:10 PM
Supporting Friendships & Emotions
Friendships can be exciting (and challenging) at this age.
- Listen first, without jumping in to solve.
- Ask: โWhat do you think you should do?โ.
- Encourage respectful communication.
- Remind your child itโs okay to ask for help from their teacher or counselor.
๐ก At this age, students are learning how to communicate and navigate relationships. There may be misunderstandings or different perspectives in a situation. We encourage families to remember that there are often multiple sides to a story, and that our students are still growing and learning from these experiences. Working together, we can help students build strong, healthy relationships!

Dismissal Reminders
๐ Car Line Etiquette: Help Us Keep Dismissal Moving!
We appreciate your patience and partnership as we work to make dismissal safe, smooth, and efficient for everyone! Please keep these car line expectations in mind:
- Have your car rider sign visible on your dashboard. This helps our staff quickly and safely identify your student. If you do not have your sign, you will be asked to pull through to the 5th Grade Bike Rack to verify your information. Please expect a delay. This delays your own child coming out and can also create a backup in the car line.
- Please do not cut in front of other cars. Cutting into the line disrupts the established order and makes it more difficult for our staff to safely manage dismissal.
- There are NO left turns into Collins from Shadowbend during dismissal. Please follow the designated traffic pattern and enter the car line at the end.
We know dismissal can be busy, and we truly appreciate your continued patience, cooperation, and respect for our staff and student safety. Following these simple expectations helps us get every Cobra home safely and as quickly as possible!
RAINY DAY DISMISSAL
Dismissal in Bad Weather
In the event of inclement or severe weather, be sure to check your email for updates on whether or not we will have rainy day dismissal.
If there is extreme weather (wind, hail, lightning, extreme rain) predicted to occur at 4:05 PM we will not allow students to walk or bike ride home - parents can join the car line, or walk up to the door by the 5th grade bike rack and check your child out with a staff member (please have car rider sign).
Every parent should have a car rider sign, and it should be visible in the car rider line. If you are picking up additional students due to rainy day dismissal, please write each studentโs ID number as large as possible on a piece of paper. Families without the car rider signs and without the student ID slows the process down substantially.
We will do our best to make a "Rainy Day Dismissal" decision by 3:45PM to alert families of the change. Please have a "Plan B" established with your child so they will know how they are getting home when a "Rainy Day Dismissal" is called.
