E-Bikes & Electric Scooters
E-Bikes & Electric Scooters: Know Before They Ride
Parents, please be aware that not all electric bikes are legally considered e-bikes in California. Some faster or more powerful electric bikes may be classified as mopeds, motor-driven cycles, or motorcycles and may require a valid driver’s license, registration, and/or insurance. If your child is not old enough or properly licensed, they may not legally operate these vehicles on public streets.
Electric scooters also have specific rules. In California, riders must generally have a valid driver’s license or instruction permit to operate a motorized scooter on public roads, and riders under 18 must wear a helmet.
Before allowing your child to ride an e-bike or electric scooter to school, please make sure the vehicle is age-appropriate, legally classified, and permitted for your child to operate.
Important: If your child rides an e-bike or electric scooter to school that they are not legally permitted to operate, they will not be allowed to ride it home from school. A parent/guardian will be contacted and required to pick up the child and the e-bike or scooter.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and ensure they are following California law.
Know the rules before they ride!

📣 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
FOR 4TH & 5TH GRADE STUDENTS & FAMILIES
As part of our VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) General Music Program, 4th and 5th grade students who did not have music in 4th grade will have the opportunity to learn to play the recorder!
Learning the recorder is a fun, hands-on way for students to:
- 🎶 Learn to read music
- 👂 Develop listening and ear-training skills
- 🎵 Practice rhythm and melody
- 🎼 Build beginning instrumental skills
- ⭐ Experience the excitement of making music!
🎁 RECORDERS ARE PROVIDED FREE!
Every student will receive a brand-new plastic soprano recorder to KEEP!
Students will use their recorders during music class and, with parent/guardian permission and support, may bring them home to practice.
💙💛 YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE A RECORDER!
If a recorder is lost, or if you would like an additional recorder so your child can keep one at home and one at school, inexpensive recorders are available from retailers such as:
Amazon • Guitar Center • West Music • Target
Already have a recorder at home? If you are unsure whether it is the correct type, have your child bring it to school and show it to Mrs. Pink.
🥋 RECORDER KARATE
Students will use Recorder Karate as part of our recorder curriculum. This program makes learning music fun as students practice songs and develop their recorder skills.

Attendance Matters Every Day!
Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are so excited to launch this year with our district-wide attendance theme: "Level Up!"
Just like in any great game, success starts with getting ready at Home Base. This August, our focus is "Press Start!"—establishing strong daily morning routines that set our young learners up to log in on time, feel confident, and get ready to grow every day.
3 Ways to Set Up Your "Home Base" Routines:
🎒 Night-Before Inventory Prep: Lay out clothes, pack backpacks, and prepare lunches the night before so mornings are smooth and stress-free.
⏰ Consistent Sleep & Spawn Times: Re-establish regular bedtimes and wake-up alarms to help your child feel rested and ready to learn.
🚪 Aim for an Early Arrival: Plan to arrive at school 10–15 minutes before the bell rings. Arriving on time helps students connect with friends on the playground and start their day without feeling rushed.
When students are present every day, they gain the skills, confidence, and connection needed to level up their learning.
If your family needs support establishing morning routines, finding transportation solutions, or navigating any barriers to regular attendance, please reach out to our school office, we are here to support your team!
Thank you for partnering with us to make this school year an extraordinary adventure. Let’s Press Start and Level Up together!
Warmly,
Attendance Matters Every Day!
