Welcome Back!

The first day of school is just around the corner, and I wanted to take a moment to share how truly excited we are to welcome everyone back! Our teachers and staff have been working hard over the summer to prepare our classrooms, plan engaging lessons, and make sure everything is ready for a fantastic start to the year.

We can’t wait to see our returning students and meet all of our new families joining the Sunset Heights community. The energy and excitement in the building are contagious, and we are looking forward to seeing the hallways filled with smiling faces and the sounds of students learning and connecting with friends.

We are committed to making this school year a safe, positive, and enriching experience for every child. Thank you for your partnership and support—we know that when we work together, great things happen for our students.

Enjoy these last few days of summer break. We look forward to seeing everyone bright and early on the first day of school!

Drop off and Pick up Procedures

Let Us Know How Your Child Gets Home: Please tell your child’s teacher how your child will go home each day. If there is a change, send a note or call the main office. Do not email the teacher during the school day, as they may not see it before dismissal.

Early Dismissals: Picking up students after 3:10pm is strongly discouraged, as the office is busy preparing for dismissal.

Morning Drop-Off (Starts at 8:50am):

  • Do not drop off your child before 8:50am—there is no supervision before then.
  • All students enter through the main front doors.
  • Stay in your car while in the car loop.
  • Staff will direct you to move forward.
  • Children must exit on the passenger (curb) side only.
  • Please use the car loop instead of parking. If you must park, use a marked spot. We have 5 short-term spots for drop-off/pick-up (5-10 minutes only).
  • If you park, walk your child to the crosswalk and wait for staff to help you cross. Children may NOT walk through the parking lot alone.
  • Drive slowly on Osgood Rd. and stay on the correct side of the road. Watch for students walking.

Afternoon Car Pick-Up (Starts at 3:25pm):

  • All car riders must be picked up in the car loop. No students will be allowed to cross the parking lot to meet parents.
  • The parking lot will be closed to traffic during pick-up.
  • Each student will get a paper for your car window—write your child’s first name, last initial, and grade in large, dark letters. Place it in your front passenger window or windshield.
  • Stay in the right lane until staff direct you. Once in a lane, stay there until pick-up is finished.
  • Students will wait by grade and will be called to your car at a numbered cone.
  • Stay in your car at all times during pick-up.
  • Only parents walking home with their child should wait outside the school.
  • Please do not block private driveways on Osgood Rd. while waiting.

Thank you for helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe and organized!
