It's Time!

Hello Panther Parents,

The first day of school is ALMOST here, and with it comes the energy, excitement, and endless possibility of a brand-new year. As your principal, I want you to know just how deeply every staff member at New Prospect believes in your child. From the moment they walk through our doors, our mission is clear: to help them grow, to celebrate their accomplishments and to ensure they know they matter—every single day.

This year, we’re proud to focus on “Strong Body, Strong Mind” through our partnership with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Strong4Life Challenge. We know that when students feel well—physically, emotionally, and mentally—they’re ready to learn, connect, and thrive. We will need your help in making this happen. We will all learn this year and I hope that you are willing to grow and reflect as a family just like we do at school.

But wellness is just one part of the story. At New Prospect, we are committed to meeting every child where they are on Day 1 and helping them grow—academically, socially, and emotionally—throughout the year. Whether it’s mastering a new math concept, making a new friend, learning that they might make mistakes behaviorally and how to deal with that or learning how to express their feelings, every step forward is a victory we’ll celebrate together.

thank you for your amazing partnership! See you Thursday at Sneak Peek!

Georgia Milestones Individual Student Scores will begin to populate in the statewide SLDS portal via Infinite Campus as they come available. Please note, scores are still coming in.

In order to access your student’s Georgia Milestones scores, follow the steps below:

  • Access your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account
  • Click “More"
  • Click “SLDS Portal”
  • Click “Performance”

Click HERE for a step-by-step visual guide to access scores.

The Georgia Milestones assessment has four performance levels. The levels include Beginning (level 1), Developing (level 2), Proficient (level 3), and Distinguished (level 4). One thing to note, the performance descriptors detail students’ knowledge and skills in relationship to the progression of Georgia Standards of Excellence content. A student who scores a level 3 is considered proficient at the grade level standards and a student who scores a level 4 is considered to have advanced proficiency in the grade level standards. The performance levels will also describe whether students need support in the next grade level; these are typically students who score a level 1 or level 2. The English Language Arts assessment includes the measure of a reading indicator. The measure is a student’s Lexile level. If a student scores below the minimum Lexile range for the grade level, he/she is not considered reading on/at grade level.

Each content area that your student tested in will have a detailed score report once all scores have been reported which can be viewed through the SLDS system. The report is used to help educators and parents make decisions about the next step in the student’s individual learning cycle.

Below, you will find some additional information to help you understand the results:

  • Parent Guide to Interpreting the Georgia Milestones Student Report
  • Georgia Milestones Parent Q & A – English
  • Georgia Milestones Parent Q & A - Spanish

Thank you for taking the time to view your student’s assessment results.
