Dear RTMSD Community,

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! We are right in the middle of the celebration, which takes place each year from September 15-October 15. I’ve enjoyed seeing the displays in our buildings and seeing the ways students in various grades are learning hands-on about the rich cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans in our community and in the nation at large. From playing Cuban-influenced music on traditional instruments found in Latin music, to devouring the works of Hispanic and Latino artists and authors, to learning about Hispanic and Latino leaders and inventors, our students are gaining a true understanding of what the recognition of the month means.

Our students and staff are well settled into the routines of school. It’s wonderful to witness how the renovations completed during the summer throughout the district – including HVAC upgrades at Glenwood and Rose Tree Elementary Schools, a newly renovated cafeteria at Springton Lake Middle School, and classroom renovations at Penncrest High School – are providing our students with increasingly improved learning and social environments. Stay tuned for updates about future projects as we continue to fulfill our long-term commitment to providing high-quality facilities that match the excellence of our educational programs.

Superintendent, Rose Tree Media School District

The pool at Springton Lake Middle School will open on Monday, October 13, 2025, with the following hours:

• 6 am to 8 am Monday-Friday for members
• 6:30 pm to 8 pm Monday-Friday for members*
• 10am to 2 pm Saturday and Sunday for members

*The 6:30 pm to 8 pm member swim time will be adjusted starting November 11th due to swim team practice.

In 2023, a dedicated group of parents, teachers, students and administrators met monthly to review and discuss the many cultural holidays and other events that occur each year. This group collaborated and created a list of holidays and events RTMSD recognizes, instructs or celebrates each year. Our monthly "Events & Holidays in RTMSD" e-newsletter provides details about the most current subjects. Please take a moment to read the October edition!
