In-Person Conferences – January 7th

We want to make you aware that in-person conferences are coming up on Wednesday, January 7, from 2:50–4:50 p.m.

You will received a personalized sign-up link for your student on December 23rd. If you do not see it, please check your spam/junk folder for an email from Blaine High School. If you still can’t locate it, email Deidre.hoffman@ahschools.us and the link will be re-sent. Interpreter services will not require scheduling this year, as all interpretation will be provided virtually.

This is a change from previous years, when in-person conferences ran longer. By adjusting the format, teachers are able to provide more targeted support for students and increased communication with families. This additional flexibility allows teachers to offer:

  • Office hours to support students academically

  • Virtual and/or in-person parent meetings

  • Communication about student academic progress, behavior, and attendance

  • Informational nights for families to learn more about programming at BHS

As we move through the trimester, if you would like to connect with a teacher, please don’t hesitate to reach out to set up a time to meet or talk about your child.

Thank you for your support during these first few weeks of school. Educating your student takes a team effort, and we couldn’t do it without our families and community.

Bengals in Action Bengals in Action

Thank you for making the Bengals in Need Drive a success!

The Bengals in Action Youth Service Club at Blaine High School, supported by Anoka-Hennepin Community Education, would like to thank the Blaine community for assisting with the Bengals in Need Drive. They collected 632 items for students in need at Blaine High School. These items were toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, deodorant, Kleenex, and more. They partnered with the BHS Social Workers to develop a list of their biggest needs for their fellow students.

The students collected the items over four days, engaging their peers in a game of spinning the wheel for prizes. A special thank you to the Blaine Central Lions, Ham Lake Lions, and Chick-fil-A for their added support of items and prizes.

Robotics Robotics

Blaine Robotics Team Competes in MinneTrials

The Blaine High School Robotics Team competed at our preseason “MinneTrials” competition on December 7. Our team split into 4 smaller groups and competed against 7 other high schools. All 4 Blaine groups competed hard all day and, despite many challenges, every group made it into the playoffs of the event. The four groups were captained by Kaydon Duong (senior), Matthew Howman (senior), Timothy Neblung (junior), and Gabriella Watson (junior). All of the robotics team members should be proud of the work they accomplished!

Starting in October, each group designed, built, wired, and programmed their own robot to compete in a custom made robotics game. Robots were tasked with either shooting tennis balls into a goal or scoring foam cubes into a slot. A portion of the match is autonomous (meaning pre-programmed). The rest of the match has the robots driven by students using controllers.

This competition builds confidence in the skills needed to succeed when we build our main robot in January as a single unit. You can find more information about the Blaine Robotics team at https://frcteam2181.com
