Dear Kingdom Citizen,

Praise the Lord. We are back, rested and excited. Pastor Latoya and I want to thank you all for serving in our absence. We are so looking forward to seeing everyone today. God has great things in store for your life.

THE GOAL IS SPIRITUAL MATURITY

A Spiritually Mature person is one who knows who they are in Him through the application of His word and dependency on the Holy Spirit, living out their destiny and leading others to the same discovery. This discovery is from the inside out and not the outside in.

Join us for prayer every morning virtually for 5:00 AM prayer. God will help you cultivate the desire for His will and to follow His way. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow and later this week.

If you have not done so as yet please complete your spiritual gifts and passions test so that you can get plugged into a ministry. Here is the link https://app.agolix.com/assessment/15546.

In and for Christ,
Pastors Rudy & Latoya

Praying the Disciples’ Prayer Outline (Matthew 6:9-13)

Establish a time and a place with a plan. You will get nowhere by leaving something as important as worship and prayer to chance. If you cannot find time, you must make time to seek God. Next, you must choose a place of prayer in your house. Set it apart for that specific purpose. Having a place to go for prayer will increase your effectiveness.

Your effectiveness will also increase by having a plan. You must have a plan. The Lord has given us a plan for prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). Jesus taught the prayer plan, commonly known as "The Lord's Prayer," to His disciples. He exhorts us to pray, using this prayer outline –

1. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. First, notice that throughout the prayer, the pronouns for the ones praying are all plural – "our and us." Individuality gives way to the corporate unity of the body. My concern must be more for the kingdom than for myself. When individuals use this kingdom-prayer outline, they should have in view the corporate blessing of the church. This prayer is inclusive and kingdom conscious.

Second, notice that we are taught to address God as our Father. God becomes our Father when we receive Jesus as Lord, believing on His name (John 1:12). Therefore, we can call God your Father because of the relationship we have with Him through faith in Christ. Through Jesus Christ, our great High Priest, we have access into the very presence of God (Hebrews 4:14; 10:19-20). Praise God for the blessing of Full-Salvation purchased for us by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Full-Salvation includes the following benefits:

a. Forgiveness – freed from the penalty of sin

b. Deliverance – freed from the power of sin

c. Healing – deliverance from sickness, disease, and infirmity

d. Baptism with the Holy Spirit – empowered to be witnesses

e. Prosperity – empowered to finance the establishment of the kingdom; provision to fulfill God’s purpose

"hallowed be Your name" means – begin with bold, audible praise. Praise the Lord because of WHO HE IS (Psalm 48:1; Revelation 4:8). Worship God by honoring and praising His name (Psalm 8:1; 34:3; 100:4; 103:1). As we call on God the Father and hallow His name, we should acquaint yourself with the covenant names for Yahweh: Jireh (Provides), Shalom (Peace), Nissi (Banner), Tsidkenu (Righteousness), M'Kaddesh (Sanctifies), Rohi (Shepherd), Rophe (Heals), Shammah (There), Sabbaoth (Captain of Hosts)

The Psalmist exhorts, “Let us exalt His name together” (Psalm 34:3). This praising God around His covenant names, remembering their meanings and the promises made, brings life and blessing. It also encourages us, from the names of God (who He is), to remind ourselves – who we are, what we have, and what we can do in Christ.

2. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus teaches that establishing the kingdom of God is the focus of this prayer. We should begin by prayerfully examining ourselves in terms of the will of God being done in our daily lives. Are we obedient to the Word? Are we seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness? These are the kinds of questions that we should ask ourselves. First we should examine and pray for ourselves and our walk, prioritizing the kingdom of God and the will of God in ourselves first.

Next, we should pray (intercede) for the needs of others beginning with those who are closest to you and continuing to an ever widening circle of our spheres of influence. For example, wife, children, parents, brother and sisters, pastor of church, leaders of ministry, friends, saints in need, government officials (city, state, country, world), etc. Our focus should be that the kingdom of God and the will of God will be established in the earth in people (1 Samuel 12:23; Ephesians 3:14-19; 1 Timothy 2:1-6). The focus of “on earth” is “in earthen vessels” (2 Corinthians 4:7): in the lives of people. The specific areas, where God's kingdom is to be established, are listed in the rest of the prayer (Matthew 6:11-13). We therefore pray for individuals by name and by need in the following 3 major areas:

a. Give us today our daily bread. This means that we should be specific in our prayer requests. "Daily bread" means basic needs. Paul says to make our needs known to God with thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6-7). The "thanksgiving" part is the faith side of prayer for basic needs. Since God has promised to meet our needs (Matthew 6:25-34), our praying with thanksgiving is praying in faith – believing God's promises. There is a peace which comes when we specifically pray, with thanksgiving, for our own needs (Philippians 4:7), and there is a power that comes when we specifically pray in faith (intercede) for the needs of others. Praying in faith for our basic needs (daily bread) is simple because none of our basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, money, etc.) have a mind of their own. None of them can disagree with us. None can determine to withstand our faith in God's word, and resist coming to us.

We must be bold and specific in our prayer requests. Most folk are general because of their lack of faith. They fear being specific because they fear the embarrassment of failure. Remember these words by Dr. Cole, “Those who have never failed have never tried.” And, “Failing isn’t the worst thing in the world; quitting is.” And finally, in many circumstances, “failure is the womb of success.” In order to grow in maturity, we must accept the responsibility for both success and failure. Most times to succeed requires risking failure. Step out, and be specific.

b. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. This part of the prayer means that we establish the kingdom of God in our interpersonal relationships. It requires examining ourselves in the area of forgiveness. Unforgiveness is the father of resentment, which is the father of bitterness, which is the father of anger.

Jesus taught that the Father will not forgive us if we do not forgive others (Matthew 6:15). Walking in peaceful fellowship with others requires forgiveness. Paul exhorts us,

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. (Romans 12:18)

This requires practicing forgiveness as a lifestyle. For us to pray in faith for peaceful, reconciled relationships is more difficult than simply praying for our basic needs to be met. Remember our basic needs (daily bread) do not have a mind of their own while other people do. Their lack of faith or negative actions or attitudes can nullify the affects of our faith. We must not give up, however. We simply need to exercise more tenacity and persistence.

Also, remember that we have been given the ministry and message of reconciliation. In a relationship needing reconciliation, the Christ is needed. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, NOT COUNTING OUR TRESPASSES AGAINST US. To be Christ in the reconciliation process of interpersonal relationships means that you are willing to take all of the sin and blame on yourself in or to reconcile. Even if you are all right and the other person is all wrong, you can still be reconciled if you will NOT COUNT THEIR TRESPASSES AGAINST THEM. Be “Christ” in the situation and open the door for reconciliation and forgiveness. You are being like Jesus when you do. Remember Jesus said, “As the Father sent Me, so send I you” (John 20:21). With this in mind, we leave praying for reconciled relationships in ourselves to praying for others using the same procedure starting with those closest to us and extending out. Remember we want to pray specifically for people we know by name and by need.

c. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. During this part of the prayer, we are praying that the dominion of the kingdom of God will come into the way we are being lead. Kingdom of God come, will of God be done in this all-important area of being lead. As our Shepherd, the Lord promises to lead and guide us to where we can lie down in green pastures beside quiet waters and be restored in paths of righteousness for His name sake (Psalm 23:1-3). Jesus teaches us to pray that we will be delivered from the evil one (Satan) who seeks to overthrow us by temptation (Matthew 6:13). Instead, we are to seek to be led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14) into all areas of truth (John 16:13). We understand that God has created us with purpose. We have a destiny. Our prayer is that the evil one will not succeed in tempting us away from the fulfillment of our purpose and destiny in God’s will.

This requires a fundamental desire to be in the center of God’s will and to be used of God. Praying this part of the prayer is more difficult than the other two areas. Again, your basis needs (daily bread) are easily met since basic needs have no will of their own (the need: faith). Walking in reconciled forgiveness with men who have a will of their own is more difficult (the need: strong faith). Living in the center of God's will while desiring to be used of God is most difficult because of the opposition of a totally evil adversary (the need: great faith).

You begin with yourself and continue by praying for others who you know (remember: by name and by need).

3. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Prayer should end as it begins, with praise. Giving God the glory is most appropriate. The kingdom is His for we are taught to seek first His kingdom (Matthew 6:33). The Church is His. Jesus said that He would build His Church upon the rock (Matthew 16:18). The power is His because we receive power from the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). Without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). We may plant and water, but only God can make that which is planted and watered, grow. The glory is His. God is the only One worthy to receive praise, honor, and glory for whatever is accomplished in His name (Revelation 4:11). Everything belongs to Him. This ending is a simple recognition of the obvious. It keeps everything in its proper perspective – away from self and centered in God and His Christ.
