Everything in the Middle School that MATTERS

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
February is I love to Read month!
We will again be having our Read-a-Thon, sponsored by our parent involvement group.
Last year we raised over $10,000. It is our hope that we are able to match that amount once again. There will be building wide celebrations for meeting our building reading goal. There will be individual prizes as well.
Thank you to our parent involvement group for sponsoring this event. The Parent involvement fundraiser hopes to foster a love for reading , help increase literacy skills and raise Funds that can be used for the classroom, activities and celebrations.
Thank you for your support of all of our amazing readers at Monticello Middle School!

STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
MMS ATTENDANCE GOAL
Our goal for the middle school is to achieve a 90% attendance rate consistently throughout the academic year.
We are incredibly proud of our students and families for making attendance a priority. Let's keep it up!
- January Attendance: 91.28%
- December Attendance: 93.78%
- November Attendance: 93.38%
- October Attendance: 94.63%
- September Attendance: 95.41%
ONLINE ATTENDANCE OR ATTENDANCE LINE
If your student will be late or absent, families can notify the school in two ways:
online attendance (through Parent/Guardian Portal)
call the Attendance Line at 763-272-2110
If your student needs to leave early, families can notify the school in three ways:
online attendance (through Parent/Guardian Portal)
call the attendance line
send a note with your student to the Student Center
Prior notice (minimum of one hour) expedites the process, avoids interruptions into classrooms to have students dismissed, and eliminates difficulty reaching students during phy-ed, music, lunch, and special events.
DIGITAL LEARNING DAYS
2024-2025 Monticello Middle School Digital At-Home Learning Day Outline
Students will:
- Access each course in Schoology (NOT M&M)
- Complete the assigned ASYNCRONOUS activity for each course
- Access the teacher by email between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. should a question arise
- NOTE: Students will be marked as ABSENT UNEXCUSED if assignment is not submitted by the morning following the inclement weather day
Student & Family Wellness Ideas
February is Healthy Heart Month, and it's the perfect time to focus on student wellness! At Monticello Schools, we encourage families to support heart-healthy habits at home, like staying active, eating nutritious meals, and getting enough rest. Small changes, like taking family walks or swapping sugary snacks for fruits and veggies, can make a big difference in overall wellness. Let’s work together to build healthy habits that keep our students thriving! Below is one example of a healthy heart challenge.
NOTES FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE
Emergency Contact Information
We must have the most current contact information, including emergency contacts for the students. At times, the health office may need to get a hold of parents/guardians during the school day due to illness, an emergency, etc., so it is important that we have the most current information so we can contact you during the school day if needed. Please contact the main office if you need to make any changes at 763-272-2100.
It is also helpful to program the health office number in your phone, so you are aware that it is a nurse at the school trying to get a hold of you. Our numbers are 763-272-2120 and/or 763-272-2121.
Thank you!
