EJMS Jaguar Weekly Oct. 13 - 17

EJMS Families,

We hope everyone had a wonderful Fall Break! If you ended up traveling we hope it was a safe and restful time away. Remember that as we return this will be the last week of the first nine weeks. You can always keep track of your child's grades through Parent Portal on Infinite Campus (if you need assistance please refer to the IC Parent Portal Grades Doc) and report cards will also be distributed this same way.

Checking out Chromebook for Missing Work/Homework

Since students do not bring their Chromebooks home we have a way for them to check out a device to keep at home during the week. Here is how the process works. If you or your child are concerned about missing work or need the device to continue working on classwork at home then the parent will contact the teacher (either Homeroom teacher or one of the teachers whose class has missing work), the teacher will contact Mrs. Graham (our School Technology Coordinator), and Mrs. Graham will issue the device at the end of the day before your child leaves school (within the next school day). She will have the student sign this Chromebook Contract for Missing Work and issue a Chromebook and charger in a protective sleeve. The device will initially be issued with a two night limit unless an extension is requested by the parent and approved by the school. All devices will be able to be checked out for up to five days (Monday-Friday), but must be returned to Mrs. Graham during Homeroom on Friday regardless of when it was checked out originally or it will be locked.

Fall Dance

Our first dance sponsored by PTO will be on Friday, October 24th from 6:00-8:00. In order for students to be eligible to attend dances and field trips they must have at least 4 out of 5 points and all school fees (including previous outstanding balances) must be paid in full.

Note to Families: NTI Information

Dear Families,

This note contains important information about our Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) plan.

Student Work & Access

All students will receive NTI packets in their homeroom class the week of September 29th. These packets will contain work for all 10 NTI days and should stay at home.
For students with internet access, there is an option to complete assignments online. All online assignments will be posted by 8:00 AM on the morning of the NTI day.

Teacher Availability

Teachers will be available to help students via Google Meet from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
All student NTI information, including assignments and the Google Meet link, will be posted in your student's Google Classroom under the "NTI" category.
To support families who need help in the evenings, at least one teacher from each grade will be available from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM for each NTI day. This contact information will be posted on Google classroom and shared by individual grade levels.
Teachers will also be available during school hours to respond to emails.

Parent conference day is November 3rd. This is a great time to review the school-parent compact for ways we can work together to help your child succeed. EJMS Family School Compact. Please reach out to your child’s teacher to schedule a time to meet for a check-in about your child.

Sept. 15 - Oct. 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month. We've been celebrating at EJMS through student posters on display in our hallways and our Hispanic students sharing information and traditions from their cultures. The celebration will culminate with a student assembly on Oct. 15. Check out more about this month in this presentation by EJMS student, Julissa.
