This Week in STAAR Testing News
The English 1 and 2 STAAR test is coming next week. Attendance is very important as students are required to take this test in order to graduate. They have been working very hard with Mrs. Thurik and Mr. Rogers over the entire year, but specifically the last month in order to really prepare the students to be successful.
Tuesday, April 8 will be English 1 for first time testers who are in English 1 currently as well as those students who have yet to pass the test. English 2 will be on Wednesday, April 9 for first time testers who are in English 2 currently as well as those students who have yet to pass the test.
Testing room assignments will be posted in the hallways and we will be on a testing schedule for those days, so lunch will be at 12:21 AFTER 4th period. Please be on campus by 8:30 so we can start promptly. Bring your school issued chromebook fully charged as well as a jacket because the testing room can be cold.
Good luck. YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Here are some actual released tests from previous administrations. Simply click the link, click the grade level, then go to the subject that you are wanting to look over. You can see the actual exam, the answer key, why the answers are correct/incorrect, and you can even review actual written essays that have been scored.
Writing Strategy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLmAxz6Cayo
Here is the best writing strategy that we have used this year. You can apply it to all of the EOC tests where you have to write a Short Constructed Response. To apply it to the Extended Constructed Response (that darn essay) simply add an introduction paragraph, use the ACE for two different body paragraphs, finally add conclusion.
Activity Period
The Endeavor Food Club thought they'd give Olive Garden a run for their money with their unlimited soup and salad meal. The students, along with Mr. Garza prepared Potato, Minestrone, Broccoli and Cheese, as well as Fideo soups along with tossed and cucumber salads for lunch today. Club sponsor Mr. Garza and Food Club members did an outstanding job! The students and staff really enjoyed fruits (food) of their labor.

Attention Early Dismissal Students!
Students, as you face the opportunity of an early dismissal, consider this a chance to invest a little extra time in your academic journey. Staying at school after your last class to work on your assignments with your teachers can be incredibly rewarding! This is your moment to clarify doubts, deepen your understanding, and enhance your skills. But mostly, it will get you closer to graduating! Remember, every minute spent collaborating with your teachers brings you closer to your goals. Embrace this opportunity to ask questions, explore new concepts, and build a stronger foundation for your future. Your hard work and dedication will pay off, so seize the day and make the most of this time!
Ask your teachers about staying after your last class.

ACT/SAT Info
What is the ACT/SAT test?
Both the SAT and the ACT are nationally administered, standardized tests that help schools evaluate your application and see how prepared you are for college courses. The SAT and ACT generally cover the same topics. Both ACT and SAT scores are used for college admissions decisions and awarding merit-based scholarships. Most colleges do not prefer one test over the other. Neither the SAT nor ACT is harder than the other. Different students tend to do better on one test than the other.
