Hamilton Dominates on the Mound as Golden Arrows Defeat West Vigo
Strong pitching and timely hitting helped the Sullivan Varsity Golden Arrows earn a hard-fought 3-2 victory over West Vigo on Wednesday.
Ty Hamilton delivered an outstanding performance on the mound, pitching a complete game and recording all 21 outs for the Golden Arrows. Hamilton struck out 12 batters while allowing just two hits and two runs over seven innings. He also walked only two batters in a dominant effort.
Hamilton also provided a spark offensively, putting Sullivan on the board in the top of the first inning with a home run to left field. The Golden Arrows added to their lead in the second inning on a passed ball, extending the advantage to 3-0.
At the plate, Hamilton led Sullivan with two RBIs while going a perfect 2-for-2 on the day.
West Vigo’s R. Wilbur pitched well in the loss, allowing six hits and three runs, with only two earned, over seven innings while striking out nine. Wilbur and A. Remirez each collected a hit for West Vigo, with Remirez driving in both runs for the Vikings.
West Vigo played a clean defensive game without committing an error, led by C. Roach, who recorded nine fielding chances.
The Golden Arrows will travel to Vincennes Lincoln on Friday for their next matchup.
Golden Arrows Rally Late to Defeat West Vigo in High-Scoring Battle
The Sullivan Varsity Golden Arrows earned an exciting 12-10 victory over the West Vigo Lady Vikings on Wednesday in a game filled with offense and late-game drama.
Kate Lynn led the way for the Golden Arrows, driving in four runs on two key hits. Lynn delivered a two-run single in the sixth inning before coming through again in the seventh with another two-run single to help secure the win.
Both teams were strong offensively throughout the contest, combining for 31 hits. West Vigo took an early lead with runs in the second and third innings before Sullivan battled back to tie the game in the fourth. The Lady Vikings regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning, but the Golden Arrows responded in a big way late in the game.
Sullivan exploded for eight runs on eight hits in the top of the seventh inning to take control of the game, highlighted by Lynn’s clutch two-run single. Hallie Howard had an outstanding night at the plate, collecting four hits in five at-bats to lead the Golden Arrows offensively. Rigley Goodman and Rachel Eslinger also added multiple hits in the victory.
Delaney Gambill started in the circle for Sullivan, while Calli Stearley appeared in relief.
The Golden Arrows will travel to Linton-Stockton on Friday for their next matchup.
Sullivan Girls Tennis Battles Greencastle in Competitive Match
The Sullivan girls’ tennis team was narrowly defeated by Greencastle 3-2 in a highly competitive match played May 1, 2026, at Greencastle. Sullivan now stands at 11-2 on the season and will next compete against Brown County on May 4 at Edgewood beginning at 5:30 PM.
Sullivan picked up victories at both #2 and #3 singles. Mercedes Ferree earned a strong 6-3, 6-4 win over Rhoan Amis, while Raylee Hobbs secured a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Mia Winters. At #1 singles, Ally McKinney faced a talented Greencastle opponent and fell 6-0, 6-0.
The deciding point came at #2 doubles in a dramatic three-set match. Mauer McCammon and Risse Dugan won the opening set 6-0 before Greencastle battled back to take the second set 6-3. The third-set tiebreaker went down to the wire, with Greencastle eventually winning 8-6 after Sullivan held two match points.
At #1 doubles, Izzie Jenkins and Annie Dugan were defeated 6-3, 6-2 by Greencastle’s Ellie Knuth and Keely Amis.
Greencastle also won the junior varsity match 5-3. Sullivan JV winners included Jurnee Stalcup and Alexis Smith in singles play, along with the doubles team of Lori Alumbaugh and Faith Biddle.
Coach, Wes Kirk, shared praise for the team’s effort and competitiveness throughout the match, noting the strong rivalry that has developed between Sullivan and Greencastle over the past several seasons.
“Our matches with Greencastle over the past six years have made for a very competitive rivalry,” the coach said. “We could not have come any closer to winning this match. I thought our effort was good in all positions, and our girls competed hard from start to finish. There is never shame in losing if you work hard and keep fighting to the end. I believe our team did that against Greencastle.”
Coach Kirk also highlighted the strong singles victories from Mercedes Ferree and Raylee Hobbs, while emphasizing the valuable experience gained from the close doubles matches as the team prepares for more challenging contests later this season.

Career Month Brings Learning to Life in McCammon’s Class
It’s Career Month in McCammon’s class, and students recently had the opportunity to learn from two special guests who shared their career paths and hands-on experiences.
Their first guest, future Dr. Sydney McCammon, is pursuing a career in school psychology. She taught students about the brain, discussed healthy ways to manage emotions, and even surprised the class by speaking Korean! Students enjoyed learning about how school psychologists help support students both academically and emotionally.
Later, students welcomed scientist Jerree Hiatt, who shared information about her career in science and led an exciting elephant toothpaste experiment. Wyatt Wade assisted with the demonstration, helping create a fun and memorable learning experience for the class.
Thank you to Sydney McCammon and Jerree Hiatt for taking the time to visit and inspire these students through Career Month!

From preparing balanced, healthy meals to maintaining the highest safety standards, these professionals play a vital role in the daily success of our schools. Just as importantly, they greet students with kindness and create a welcoming environment in our cafeterias.
This day of recognition was inspired by Jarrett J. Krosoczka, highlighting the often-unsung impact of cafeteria teams across the country.
