Dear Northfield Public Schools Families:

As I have visited schools across the district, I have been pleased to hear a consistent theme that it has been a great start to the school year. Thanks for your effort and partnership to make that happen.

In the coming weeks, you will begin to hear and see more about the Reimagine Northfield High School project. After voters overwhelmingly approved all three questions last November, we got right to work:

  • The core planning team was formed and started meeting in December.

  • The activities subcommittee started meeting in February.

  • Over 65 community members participated in the planning process.

There will be a presentation with renderings of the new construction and renovations at the Sept. 22 board meeting. We will also begin sharing the phasing plans and preliminary budget analysis.

The plan continues to include:

  • Requesting bids for the project in February 2026.

  • Starting construction in June 2026.

  • This is a complicated project and final completion is not expected until 2029.

We are looking forward to sharing this major project update with the community in the coming weeks!

Finally, I want to take a moment to recognize those lost in the terrorist attacks that took place on Sept. 11, 2001. While it has been 24 years since those attacks, the associated pain is ongoing for our nation. We honor the memories of those who died and the heroics of those who responded valiantly on that fateful day.

As always, do not hesitate to contact me with feedback or questions about the school district.

Sincerely,

Matt
