This week, the weather was finally in our favour and we were able to enjoy the sunshine at Athletics Day today. Thank you to all our whānau who came along to support our children and offered help at events. Throughout the day, our students demonstrated perseverance, encouraged one another, and showed a willingness to challenge themselves and try their best. The next step is to collate the results to determine which students have qualified for the Northern Zone Event in Term 4. Thank you to Cassie for her ongoing leadership and coordination of sport at our school. We also appreciate our teaching and support staff who worked together to make this a fun and successful event for our students.
Tomorrow our school will come together for our first pōwhiri of the year to welcome the students and staff who have recently joined our kura. This special occasion is an important tradition for our school, providing an opportunity to formally welcome new members and acknowledge them as part of our community. It is always a meaningful way to begin building connections and a sense of belonging.
Life Education Van
We currently have Harold and Marsha visiting us in the Life Education Van. Each class will have two sessions in the van while it is at Bellevue. The cost is $6 per student, which is covered by the Trips and Performances fee.
Life Education supports children to:
develop life skills related to their health and wellbeing
understand how to make healthy choices
build knowledge about health and how their bodies work
develop self-esteem and a positive sense of self
learn strategies for relating to others
Each hub has selected focus questions to guide students’ learning during their visits to the Life Education Van.
Staff Professional Development
At our recent teacher only day, our staff took part in professional learning focused on the refreshed Mathematics Curriculum. During the day, we deepened our understanding of the Number strand and explored strategies to support acceleration in mathematics, helping ensure that all learners are able to make strong progress. It was a valuable opportunity to unpack the curriculum together and think about what this looks like in practice in our classrooms. Days like this allow us to reflect on our teaching, share ideas, and strengthen the approaches we use to support students to build confidence and understanding. It was also fantastic to learn alongside teachers from across our cluster. These opportunities to share ideas, discuss practice, and learn from one another help us to strengthen our collective capability and ensure we are providing the best possible learning experiences for our students.
PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning)
Through our Positive Behaviour for Learning focus, students earn Dojo points by demonstrating our school values of Aroha, Empathy, Resilience, Integrity, and Creativity. As a school community, students work together to contribute to a shared goal of reaching 5000 points. On Monday afternoon, we acknowledged reaching 5000 Dojo points with a special Dojo Celebration afternoon. Congratulations everyone. Keep up the great work!

PB4L Dojo Point Update
We use Dojo Points at Bellevue School to acknowledge students demonstrating our school values. When we reach 5000 Dojo Points we have a whole school acknowledgement. Each hub will share details of their acknowledgements via Seesaw.
So far this term we have earned 6512 Dojo Points and as Deeann mentioned above, on Monday afternoon we acknowledged reaching 5000 Dojo points with a special Dojo Celebration afternoon.
Enrolment planning for 2026-2027
Do you have a child turning five soon or next year or know someone else who does? Parents of students who live within the home zone and intend to enrol their child at any time in 2026-2027 are asked to please notify the school as soon as possible to assist the school to plan appropriately. It helps us to know as early as possible how many students will be enrolling as a five-year-old. Interested families may collect an enrolment pack from the office or from our website.
Out of zone enrolment applications are now being accepted for the third enrolment period of 2026 (Saturday 4 July 2026 to Friday 25 September 2026). Up to five (5) places are likely to be available for out of zone students.
The deadline for out of zone enrolments is Friday 27 March 2026.
Please have a look at the school website for more details: https://www.bellevue-newlands.school.nz/enrolment.
