Principal's Message from Mrs. Haugen
We are looking forward to Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday, February 12th and Tuesday, February 13th. Parent-teacher conferences offer great opportunities to deepen your working relationship with your child’s teacher. Parent/school partnership is important in the success of all of our students. Links to schedule your conference have been sent and it is also posted on our website.
Another way to be informed on your child’s progress is through Powerschool. If you do not have an online parent access account set up, please contact our office at (701) 323-4320. This resource allows you to check your child’s progress at any time of the year.
The Liberty PTO would love to support our staff during conferences by providing them something to eat. Please keep an eye out for a signup link if you are able to help out by volunteering to bring an item off the list. Thanks for supporting the Liberty staff!
It's a great year to be a ROCKET!

Personal Items/Valuables at School
Please make sure that your child does not bring any personal toys or valuables to school. Pokemon Cards and other trading cards are not allowed.
Kindergarten Registration Now Open
Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open. For more information and to register, visit www.bismarckschools.org/kreg.
Registration is open throughout the school year, but parents are strongly encouraged to register their K-5th grade students as soon as possible to help ensure placement in their neighborhood school. The sooner a student is registered, the higher the probability of them attending their boundary school. Due to capacity limitations, those who wait too long may be placed in a different school and required to wait until the following year to be enrolled in their boundary school.
Recess Weather Policy
Recess - the following can be found on the BPS website.
The health and safety of your child will be the major consideration when making decisions about the appropriateness of going outside during extremely cold or wet conditions. Other considerations will be the need of children for fresh air, exercise, work breaks, and unstructured play time for social development. Students should come to school dressed appropriately to be outside during the weather expected that day. BPS Elementary Schools have jointly developed a guideline which states that outdoor recess will not normally occur when the wind chill drops below -10 degrees Fahrenheit (based on the National Weather Service website). Keep in mind that actual time outside during recess breaks is generally limited to about ten-fifteen minutes. Based on the relative openness or protection of a particular school site, variations in this guideline will exist.
Recesses are shortened when wind chill drops below 0 degrees.
Positive Behavior Systems Approach
Each month we take time to meet as a whole school and celebrate the great behavior of our Liberty Students! The philosophy of a Positive Behavior Systems approach is that the behavior we emphasize/pay attention to the most is the behavior that we see from students. Therefore we work to quickly and consistently address undesired behaviors and praise/acknowledge great behaviors in students. Below is a list of our classroom/grade level award winners. Students are also acknowledged individually for positive behaviors by receiving stickers and Power Slips when caught displaying behaviors that align with The Liberty Way - Liberty Rockets are Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Kind!
MEET OUR LIBERTY ROCKET STAFF
Each month we will highlight a few of our Liberty staff members. This is a fun way to get to know a little bit about each one of the individuals that work with your children each day!
