November is Family and School Partnership in Education Month
To celebrate November as being Family and School Partnership in Education Month, we would like to introduce your school family liaisons! We are excited to announce that five of our schools have a Family Liaison! What does a Family Liaison do? They are here to SUPPORT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY navigate school and the education of your students and to HEAR FROM YOU on ways we could best support you and your family.
We would like to introduce your School Family Liaison and if you would like to get a hold of them, please email them directly.

Mrs. Susie Tijerina
Hi! I am a Fort Lupton native and Fort Lupton High School graduate. I am in my 20th year at Butler Elementary and in my 7th year as the Title I-C elementary advocate.
Please feel free to reach out to me at stijerina@weld8.org.
Ms. Gloria Estrada
Hi! My name is Gloria Chacon, and this is my fourth year at Weld RE-8, where I work as a Health Technician and recently also became the Family Liaison at Fort Lupton Middle School. I have been in the medical field for over 15 years, doing what I have always loved—helping others and finding ways to make life a little easier whenever possible.
Having grown up in the Hudson and Fort Lupton area, being a mom of four, and growing up in a Spanish-speaking household as the oldest of four siblings, I understand the importance of family, community, and supporting one another. Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors and riding bikes with my kids!
Please feel free to reach out to me at gestrada@weld8.org
Mrs. Gaby Rivera
Hello, my name is Gaby Rivera and I have been with Weld Re-8 School District since fall of 2019 as the parent engagement specialist. I am excited to continue working with all of Weld Re-8 families and continue strengthening our partnerships at Fort Lupton High School!
Personally, I have been married for almost 10 years, I have two beautiful daughters, and one dog. For fun, I like to hike and sleep 😃 I went through the Boulder Valley School District system but I now live in Milliken, CO with my family.
I look forward to working and getting to know all of you!
You can reach out to me at grivera@weld8.org
Mrs. Veronica Oliver
I am so excited for my second year at Homyak. This is my 6th year teaching, but I have been working with children for 14 years. I have taught preschool, 3rd grade, and SPED, but 4th grade at Homyak has been my favorite teaching experience.
I live in Frederick, CO with my husband, Dalton, and our two cats, Potter and Weasley. My favorite color is yellow, my favorite store is Amazon, my favorite food is Chick-fil-a, my hobby is reading and doing nails, and my favorite drink is iced dirty chai/coffee and vanilla coke.
Please feel free to reach out to me at veronica.oliver@weld8.org
Ms. Jicel Carbajal
Hi! My name is Jicel, and I am excited to serve as our school’s Family Liaison. I am currently beginning my fourth year working as the Attendance Clerk at Twombly Elementary. Working in a school has shown me how important it is for students and families to feel welcomed, supported, and connected.
I enjoy helping others and building positive relationships, and I look forward to continuing to work together with our families to help every student feel successful and supported.
Please feel free to reach out to me at jcarbajal@weld8.org
Thank you!

Partnering with Our School Resource Officers for Student Safety & Community
As we work to maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment across our schools, I want to emphasize the vital role our School Resource Officers (SROs) play in our community.
Our SRO’s are here not only to enhance campus safety and emergency preparedness, but also to build positive relationships with students, offer guidance, and serve as an accessible resource for staff and families alike.
Strong collaboration between our educators and SROs helps ensure proactive safety measures and a strong sense of security for everyone. Please feel free to reach out to our SRO team if you ever have questions, need assistance, or want to collaborate on safety initiatives.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to keeping our school community safe!
