A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Montessori families!
We survived the weird weather week! Some of our classes had a trip to the Urban Ecology Center in 50 degree weather, while another class experienced freezing cold blowing snow! As a reminder, students go outside unless it feels like -5 or colder, so please send warm gear every day! We all know Wisconsin weather can turn on a dime!
We have a new shout out board, to celebrate all the positives here at WMS! Look at all the shout outs in just one week! We also are celebrating many MLK poster winners. See the winners and their posters below. Lastly, we are excited to announce our All School Read today! See details below! This is one of our favorite times of year!
Quick reminders - We have our January PTSA meeting on January 20th from 7-8:30pm in room 30. On January 22nd, we have an event for prospective families called Lights On, Montessori. If any of your friends are interested in our school, tell them to come check it out! January 27th-30th we are hosting a Scholastic Book Fair! We need volunteers to help run this - so see below! On January 29th, the PTSA is hosting Family Game Night from 6-7:30pm and we have the book fair! So much fun in this cold, dreary month!
Have a great weekend!
Elizabeth
All School Read
We are excited to announce this year’s All-School Read, featuring two engaging, futuristic novels: The Lion of Mars by Jennifer L. Holm and The Giver by Lois Lowry.
One copy per family of The Lion of Mars will be sent home with your oldest or only student. We invite families to read this book together at home.
Families with students in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade will also receive one copy per family of The Giver, sent home with your oldest or only student. The Giver contains mature and complex themes that some younger readers may find disturbing or difficult to understand. We do not recommend this book for students younger than 6th grade. Students in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade are welcome to choose either book. The Lion of Mars and The Giver are being sent home to families of 6th–8th grade students.
Check your students' backpacks for more information.
Look for more information to come your way about our upcoming Literacy Night celebration on Feb. 18th from 5:30-7 pm.
Donations Needed!
“Paper towel/toilet paper cardboard roll donations needed for an upcoming Upper Elementary STEM project. Please save empty rolls and send them into the office with your child by Friday January 31st. Thank you!”
