Tips to CALM and CARRY on

  1. Connect with Others: Reach out to friends, family members, or a support group for connection and emotional support. Sharing your thoughts and feelings with others can help lighten the burden and provide perspective.

  2. Create a Relaxation Routine: Establish a calming bedtime routine to help you unwind and prepare for sleep. This could include activities such as reading, taking a warm bath, or listening to soothing music. You are a helper. You need great sleep.

  3. Deep Breathing: Take slow, deep breaths. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold it for a few seconds, then exhale slowly through your mouth. This simple technique can help reset your nervous system and bring a sense of calm.

  4. Healthy Lifestyle Choices: Take care of your body by eating well-balanced meals, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, and avoiding excessive caffeine and alcohol. A healthy lifestyle can support your mental and emotional well-being. Try walking for 10 minutes each day to get started. You can do this!

  5. Limit Media Consumption: While it's important to stay informed, consuming too much news and social media can contribute to feelings of anxiety and overwhelm. Set boundaries around your media consumption and take breaks when needed.

  6. Mindfulness Meditation: Practice mindfulness by focusing your attention on the present moment. Pay attention to your thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and the surrounding environment without judgment. Even just a few minutes of mindfulness meditation each day can help reduce stress and anxiety.

  7. Physical Activity: Get moving! Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and improve your mood. Whether it's going for a walk, doing yoga, or dancing to your favourite music, find an activity that you enjoy and make it a regular part of your routine.

  8. Practice Gratitude: Take time each day to reflect on the things you are grateful for. Gratitude can shift your focus from what's going wrong to what's going right, fostering a sense of positivity and resilience.

  9. Seek Professional Help if Needed: If you're feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope on your own, don't hesitate to reach out to a professional counsellor or therapist for support. They can provide guidance, tools, and strategies to help you navigate challenging times.

  10. Stay Present: Instead of worrying about the past or the future, focus on the present moment. Engage fully in whatever you are doing, whether it's working on a task, spending time with loved ones, or enjoying a hobby. Just for today I will focus on taking care of me.
