Great Oak - Newsletter Volume #1
Home of the Wolfpack
The Pack is Back!
Thank you for a GREAT first week of school! We thoroughly enjoyed having students back in classrooms! As we visited this week we saw students already immersed in learning. From lively debates in social science to learning new songs in choir - students and teachers are working collaboratively and working hard. We know there will be more great things to see this week!
We also enjoyed having students back in clubs and in competitions! We look forward to a busy week ahead with Field Hockey, Girls Volleyball, Water Polo, Cross Country, Girls Tennis, Flag Football and Football all taking the field this week. Please see the GOHS Athletics Website for more information about start times so you can get out and support the Pack!
Our inaugural flag football games were a huge success, bringing out an enthusiastic crowd and high energy from start to finish. The stands were filled with students, families, and staff showing their support and school spirit. Our JV team set the tone with an impressive win, while our varsity team battled hard in a close matchup but ultimately came up short. Overall, it was an exciting kickoff to our flag football program and a memorable night for the Wolfpack community.
Next week is also full of events! Please save the date for our GOHS Back to School Night - August 26th, 2025 where you will have the opportunity to meet teachers and learn more about the year ahead. We will also have the first meeting of our African American Parent Advisory Committee. At this meeting we will discuss needs and priorities for the 2025-2026 school year. More information about both events will be sent home this week!
Thank you staying connected with us - Go Wolfpack!

Drop-Off Procedures
Our gates open at 7:25 AM for 0 Period students. If your student is not enrolled in a 0 Period class, please wait until 8:00 AM or later to drop them off. First Period begins at 8:30 daily!
When using the drop-off loop, please:
Remain in your vehicle.
Pull forward as far as possible to keep traffic moving.
Avoid stopping in the middle of the loop if there is space ahead of you.
We understand students may have a preferred gate, but stopping early creates delays. The more efficiently we move cars through the front lot, the faster all students can get to class. Please be respectful to staff on duty and to other families by following these procedures.
Finally, we ask all drivers to model safe, respectful behavior by using crosswalks, obeying posted speed limits, and following road signs. Our top priority is ensuring every member of the Wolfpack arrives safely and is ready for a fantastic 2025–2026 school year!
Dismissal Procedures
Dismissal on regulars days is at 3:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday dismissal for Student Early Release (SER) is at 2:15 PM for all students.
Please be courteous to others and do not leave your vehicle while you are in the loop.
Please NO PARKING in the loop and again we ask all drivers to model safe, respectful behavior by using crosswalks, obeying posted speed limits, and following road signs.
Secondary Math Pilot
Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 (Select Teachers)
Dear Wolfpack Families,
We are excited to share that the Temecula Valley Unified School District is participating in a mathematics curriculum pilot at both the middle and high school levels. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance math instruction in alignment with the updated California Mathematics Framework.
The pilot process began in the spring, when our math pilot team—composed of teachers, instructional leaders, and administrators—reviewed the California state standards, the updated Math Framework, and potential curriculum options that align with our instructional goals and vision.
Throughout this school year, your student’s teacher will be piloting two different math curricula. Each of these programs is designed to provide students with a rigorous and engaging learning experience that emphasizes deep conceptual understanding, meaningful problem-solving, and rich mathematical thinking. The pilot will allow us to collect valuable feedback from students, teachers, and families to help us evaluate the effectiveness of these materials in our classrooms.
This work is driven by the release of the revised California Mathematics Framework in summer 2023, which reimagines TK–12 math education as a student-centered, inquiry-based experience. The framework emphasizes making connections, fostering understanding, and supporting all students through equitable and inclusive practices. If you’d like to learn more about the framework, we invite you to visit the California Department of Education website.
What does this mean for your student?
This fall and winter, your student will experience new lessons, activities, and instructional materials from the pilot curricula. Teachers will continue delivering high-quality instruction while integrating these new resources to support students’ growth in mathematical understanding and engagement.
How can you be involved?
Your feedback is an essential part of this process. As the pilot progresses, we encourage you to share your questions, observations, and reflections. Your input will help guide our decisions as we consider the best long-term math curriculum for our schools. High school students will engage with Imagine Learning and Amplify. The student workbooks and textbooks are available at your student's school and the district office if you would like to review them.
We will also be forming a Parent Curriculum Advisory Committee, composed of parents directly involved in the curriculum pilot process, as well as instructional coaches, site administrators, and district leaders. Committee members will review state standards, adopted frameworks, and piloted curriculum materials to support thoughtful curriculum decisions. If you are interested in being considered for this committee, please complete the interest form. Please note that submitting the form does not guarantee selection. The committee will consist of approximately 20 members.
We truly value your partnership and appreciate your ongoing support. If your child is participating in the Pilot you will receive a letter from their teacher and there will be information at Back to School Night next week.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education—we look forward to an exciting year of learning and growth together.

Having an approved application on file may qualify you for utility discounts, testing waivers (including AP exams!), and earn money for your school/district.
Handbook Highlights: Dress Code
Temecula Valley Unified School District believes that appropriate dress and grooming contribute to a productive learning environment. Student attire and grooming must permit the student to participate in learning without posing a risk to the health or safety of any student or school district personnel. The school district is responsible for seeing that student attire does not disrupt school activity or contribute to a hostile or intimidating atmosphere for any student.
Students must wear clothing including a shirt with pants or skirt, or the equivalent (for example dresses, leggings, or shorts) and shoes.
Clothing shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments and buttocks. No underwear, undergarments, or clothing that is comparable to undergarments (e.g, bathing suits that resemble the same coverage of an undergarment) may be visible at any time. Clothing may not be see-through or mesh if underwear is visible underneath.
Attire may not display images or slogans that are violent and/or depict drugs (Cookies), drug paraphernalia, alcohol, or promote any unlawful act. Additionally, attire may not contain imagery, words or acronyms associated with hate speech, profanity, pornography, “indecency” (Playboy) or any promotion and/or endorsement of violence, alcohol or drug use are strictly prohibited on campus.
