This Friday, February 13th, was the Fort Collins Winter Bike to Work Day and Lesher hosted a station! We had a group of students making pancakes for anyone who biked and there was a raffle for prizes! Thanks to everyone who participated to help make it happen.

Moving forward, we host a bike to school day on the last Friday of every month – all you have to do it bike in for food, helmet stickers, and more bike fun! Our remaining dates are school 2/27, 3/27, 4/23 (Thurs), and 5/22. And get ready for our annual Bike Week coming up in May – it’s going to be fun! Here are our Bike events for the remainder of the school year. If you would like to help make our bike program even better, reach out to Mr. Mayer (bmayer@psdschools.org) or Mr. Van Roekel (rvanroekel@psdschools.org). Thanks, and go Vikings!

Advanced Art Field Trip! Advanced Art Field Trip!

8th Grade Advanced Art students went to the Denver Museum of Art this past Tuesday! Students had a great time looking at the art with a docent tour and then some time on their own.

FCHS Spread the Love Week FCHS Spread the Love Week

Middle School Parents,

Fort Collins High School is hosting a FREE Carnival for elementary and middle school students on Wednesday, February 25th from 5 - 8pm. This carnival is part of our Spread the Love Week, an annual FCHS tradition that serves as both a fun-filled week of events for students and as a fundraiser for an important cause. This year we are partnering with Make-A-Wish: Colorado. Our Make-A-Wish kid this year is Lulu, a 5-year-old girl diagnosed with Leukemia whose wish is to go on a Disney Cruise to meet the princesses. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for kids like Lulu!!

The carnival has a variety of activities including Face painting, Temporary Tattoos, Spin for a Hershey Kiss, Football Throw, Basketball toss, Mario Kart, Cake Walk, Color Lounge,

Lilo & Stitch Watch Party (Lulu's favorite movie), Cornhole, Spikeball, a Photo booth, and much more. Again, the carnival is free with a suggested donation of $10 to support kids like Lulu. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Thank you for your support!

In an effort to reduce our waste and support our Lesher community, we are opening Lesher’s first ever “Thrift Store!” And it’s free! Come take what you want – if you need a Lesher shirt, take it! If you want a jacket, it’s yours! Need a water bottle, we’ve got it for you! The Lesher Thrift Store is located right outside Mr. Mitchell’s office (room 36), across the hall from the front office, with many of the items displayed in the window and is open on “Blue” Days after school until 2:40. Please come take what you want and leave the rest for others, and please keep our space organized so we can all use it! Thanks, and go Vikings! Please note: all clothing has been donated and is lightly used.

PSD Engagement Norms PSD Engagement Norms

In an effort to foster a culture of mutual respect, effective communication, and quality customer service, PSD has created a set of norms for staff, family/guardian, and community engagement. These norms aim to set a positive tone for interactions between staff and parents and community members, whether they happen in person, over the phone, or in writing.

The norms will be posted in all PSD schools and include expectations that:

  • Calls or emails that are not emergencies will be acknowledged within three school days.
  • Appointments between the parties involved will be established as a norm for addressing concerns or discussing important matters through direct communication.
  • Appointments will take place as soon as reasonably possible. Adequate time is needed for preparation and research before an appointment.
  • Communication will focus on collaboration and understanding – respectful language and non-confrontational behavior from all parties are expected.
  • Boundaries between personal and professional life will be maintained, and sensitive matters will not be addressed in community settings.

It’s important for everyone in our schools and in our communities to feel welcome and engage in mutual respect to best serve students.
