Thank you for all of the incredibly generous donations for 100% Homestead. Between the Denim and Diamonds Silent Auction and the fundraiser, we are SO CLOSE to reaching our goal of $25,000. These donations directly help Homestead - over 70% of the funds raised through fundraising efforts go directly to our teacher assistants who are vital to the day to day functioning of the school. It's not too late to donate if you haven't had the chance! PTCO will be extending 100% Homestead through Monday. Tomorrow, you will receive an email from your student's teacher(s) with a sign up for Spring Conferences. Staff will all send their sign ups on Monday at 4:00pm. We are excited to offer one common evening on Tuesday, March 3rd to accommodate families who may need an evening time slot. We are looking forward to meeting with you all during the first week of March for conferences!

Additionally, if you have an upcoming Kindergartener, or know of a neighbor who does, please let them know that Kindergarten and PreK registration is open as well as School of Choice. Students who are already enrolled in School of Choice do not need to re-register. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

This week, we had an exciting visit from Cherry Creek High School Senators and their Power Week Frog! The students visited with each classroom and explained their fundraiser, "Bags of Fun." We will be supporting CCHS by having a Spirit Week that is very similar to theirs. See below for the daily themes. Dressing up is completely optional!

Last, but certainly not least, did you know 4th Grade had a Superbowl?? A reading Superbowl, that is! Students have been working in teams and counting their reading minutes over the last four weeks. As a grade level, they read 63,696 minutes! The 1st place team - Max, Walker, and Duke - read 2,630 minutes. Amazing work students and amazing work Ms. Sale, Ms. Streich, and Ms. Ganzle for challenging the kids in a whole new way! Check out the winners holding their 3D printed Lombardi trophies.

We are approaching our second annual Integrated Arts Hobby Horse Derby! This is a fun way to collaborate and utilize all IA skills. Students work on balance, coordination, teamwork, rhythm, beat, and artistic expression. Each student will make a horse head for their hobby horse performance.

I would appreciate some help managing yarn and assembling horse manes on the days when students design their horse heads: **February 19, 20, and March 2**.

On Friday, January 30th, a bright yellow flyer went home in your students Friday Folder asking where they plan to attend middle school. Please fill this out and return it to the main office no later than Tuesday, February 10, 2026. It is very important we receive this so we know where to send your child's cume file after leaving Homestead. If you need a new flyer please have your child stop by the office.Thank you for your help!

Jump Rope for Heart is approaching, and all Homestead students will have the opportunity to build their jump rope skills and participate in timed challenges during PE. Last year, students jumped for a combined total of over 24 hours during their PE classes!

The class that accumulates the longest total jump time will earn Boondocks Bowling Cards and take home the Jump Rope Bragging Rights Trophy to display in their classroom for the year. Our Jump Rope NEON (Prize Day) Party will take place on Wednesday, February 18th during IA times.

While Homestead will not be participating in the fundraising portion for the American Heart Association, families who wish to donate may do so voluntarily. Throughout February, prizes will be awarded to top jumpers in each class based on performance and effort. Prizes will not be tied to fundraising, as our focus is on skill development and individual achievement in physical education.

Families interested in registering their child, completing Finn’s Mission, learning hands-only CPR, or exploring online activities can scan the attached QR code. If donations are made, the class that raises the most will earn a Choice Day in PE.

Ms. Brownell looks forward to seeing students showcase their jump rope skills while promoting cardiovascular fitness.

Colorado legislation has prompted greater need to screen and document volunteers in our schools. As of January 2022, we began asking every volunteer to complete a brief application to support activities in CCSD schools.

If you are currently volunteering or plan to volunteer in the future, please complete the CCSD online volunteer form. It should only take a few minutes to complete and you will only need to complete this form once a year to meet the requirements to volunteer in all CCSD buildings.

Please note: if you completed this application more than one year ago, it is time to do it again!
