As we prepare for a fun week next week, please ensure your child's costume they wear DURING THE SCHOOL DAY meets the following guidelines:

  • Please wear age-appropriate costumes that are safe and functional for learning in the classroom with proper footwear.
  • Dress-code rules apply. Please avoid any costumes, parts or accessories that will distract your child or others from learning. Leave all of the "extra" parts at home.
  • Students MAY color their hair as long as hair returns to their natural color the following school day.
  • The following are NOT ALLOWED: costume masks, face paint, fake blood or gore, weapons, inappropriate logos or sayings.
  • Inflatables are discouraged but are allowed if they do not cover your face and you are able to sit in your seat in class.
  • This should be a fun day for all children, so we are asking that scary characters from frightening movies not be part of this day.

PYL Promise at Brookhaven 🐻 PYL Promise at Brookhaven 🐻

Living the PYL Promise at Brookhaven 🐻

At Brookhaven, we continue to bring the PYL Promise—Rooted in Connection, Ready for Tomorrow, and Stronger Together—to life through the learning experiences, partnerships, and shared commitments that make our school community special. Here are a few highlights from this past week!

🎓 Ready for Tomorrow: Our students learned about Digital Citizenship in computer lab, building important skills for navigating the digital world safely, responsibly, and respectfully. These lessons help our Bears make thoughtful choices and become responsible digital citizens.

❤️ Stronger Together: We celebrated Unity Day, coming together to show our commitment to kindness, inclusion, and belonging. By standing together against bullying and celebrating what makes each of us unique, we remind our students that everyone deserves to feel welcomed, valued, and connected at Brookhaven.

These experiences reflect our ongoing commitment to helping every student grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we are creating a school community where every Bear belongs and has the opportunity to thrive!

Rooted in Connection. Ready for Tomorrow. Stronger Together. ❤️🐻

October: Respect

Students believe that the well-being and dignity of all people is important simply because they are fellow human beings and they treat every individual with respect.

Key Beliefs:

I will be a better student if I act on the following beliefs:

  • I will treat others the way I want to be treated.
  • It is important to treat everyone with respect, even if I feel they don’t deserve it.
  • I need to treat everyone the same by accepting their differences, whether they are my friends or people I don’t know very well.
  • I must respect the personal space of others and keep my hands to myself.
  • It is important for people to be included.
