The Board of Education presented Mrs. Dorothy Williams with a plaque to thank her for her service as Board President over the past year.

In addition, the Board voted among themselves for new leadership roles, per board policy.

The new officers include the following: Mrs. Cindy Temple, Board President; Mrs. Dorothy Williams, Board Vice President; Ms. Angela Person-West, Board Secretary; Dr. Rochelle Redus, Board Disbursing Officer; Mrs. Natalie Wankum, Board Alternate Disbursing Officer; Mrs. Valerie McLean, Board Parliamentarian; and Mr. Tracy Steele, Board Legislative Liaison.

Board policy requires members to serve in their respective officers for one-year terms.

Mr. Wes Bilon, the Director of Student-Athlete Development and Academic Engagement, provided the Board of Education with an assessment of the Athlete Department. Mr. Bilon shared what is working and made some recommendations on areas for improvement.

Dr. Nadia Saint-Louis, Principal at North Little Rock High School, and Mrs. Amy Jordan, the Executive Director of Secondary School Performance, provided information on courses that will be available to students next school year and beyond. In addition, the two shared some expectations about senior recognitions when it comes to graduation.

Ms. Kathy Hale, the Student Information Specialist; Mrs. Amy Jordan, the Executive Director of Secondary School Performance; and Dr. Traci Lightfoot, the Executive Director of Elementary School Performance, discussed attendance and discipline data for the first quarter grading period.

The data provides administrators and teachers with areas to improve when it comes to attendance and discipline.
