Notes about attendance:

• If you child(ren) misses school for an appointment (ie. doctor, dentist, mental/behavioral health), please make sure to provide an office visit note to the AMS main office. This helps us ensure absences are coded correctly.

• We have a new email address created specifically for attendance. You can send your messages regarding attendance to andersen.attendance@mpsomaha.org, and we’ll make sure your student’s attendance is updated appropriately for the day!

We are wrapping up our fall sports season! It’s been an interesting one with all the rain, but our teams have persevered through rain and mud, worked hard, learned life skills, and made friends. We are proud of our student athletes and grateful to the coaches who spend so much time after school with our teams!

This week, our C Teams nominated students for Positive Office Visits. Here are a few of them! We are so proud of all of our Wolverines for working hard and being kind every day!

We have more PAWS Notes winners! Keep up the great work, students!

On Tuesday, the Croker Group - one of our Partners for Education - provided a treat cart to our teachers! We are so grateful to our community partnerships for their support of our students and staff!

Students must have a current physical on file to participate in the open gym or tryouts.

• Boys basketball tryouts will be held on October 7 and October 9 from 3:00–4:45 p.m. If an additional evaluation day is needed, tryouts will continue on October 12. Otherwise, October 12 will be the first official practice.
• An open gym will be held on October 6 from 3:00–4:30 p.m. This is a non-evaluation day and an opportunity for athletes to prepare for tryouts.

Soccer club will start next week, October 7, and we will continue to meet on Wednesdays while the weather is nice. Pickup time will be 4:00. Students do not need to bring any special equipment.

Students should email Haley Dahlgaard (hadahlgaard@mpsomaha.org) if they are interested in joining. We can only accept the first 40 students this time around. We will do another round in the spring.

MathCounts Update!

We have decided to have EVERYONE meet weekly for MathCounts! A few students asked if we could meet every week, so we decided to make it happen!

We will no longer separate meetings by grade level. All MathCounts students, no matter what grade you are in, can attend each meeting.

We will alternate between Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.

October MathCounts Dates:

• Thursday, October 1st (ALL GRADE LEVELS)

• Tuesday, October 6th (ALL GRADE LEVELS)

• Thursday, October 22nd (ALL GRADE LEVELS)

• Tuesday, October 27th (ALL GRADE LEVELS)

We’re excited to see everyone each week and have some fun with math challenges, problem solving, and competition!
