Request for Class Supplies

It’s that time of year when we have a lot of sneezing, coughing, and runny noses in the classroom. We could use some paper towels, disinfectant wipes, and tissues so the kids don’t spread germs.

Classroom Happenings

  • Students continued their research for NHD, and wrote working thesis statements this week
  • Students are seriously considering their 5 choices for NHD: presentation, paper, website, documentary or exhibit.
  • National History Day is Monday, December 16, 2019 at Hixson Middle School from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

8th Grade Classes

This week, students enjoyed participating in a game show, “What’s Your Point?” hosted by Mr. or Mrs. History. The contestants created thesis statements based on given topics and themes. For NHD, they also wrote 7-12 research notes paragraphs.

7th Grade Classes

The focus of the 7th grade classes this week was asking questions.

We did classroom activities and games that required us to develop effective questions. Being able to develop questions helps research, historical thinking, and critical thinking in general.
