ELIZABETH DIGS OUT AFTER SNOWSTORM CLOSES DISTRICT FOR THREE STRAIGHT DAYS ELIZABETH DIGS OUT AFTER SNOWSTORM CLOSES DISTRICT FOR THREE STRAIGHT DAYS

No job is too big!

At least not when it comes to the Elizabeth community rallying together to get something done. This was the scene at EHS stadium prior to the football game this past weekend.

The only reason that game even happened was thanks to a bunch of people who sacrificed their weekend to clear the field, stands and pathways.

Over two dozen parents and community members grabbed shovels and joined up with staff members to clear roughly 30 inches of snow spread across a huge area. Imagine the amount of work that took!

Thank you to everyone who showed up to make the area safe and playable for EHS football!

Looking to the future.

Thank you to everyone who came out Wednesday night for the 'Future Uses of Frontier Center' event at the site of old Frontier High School.

The event kicked off with tours of the building and then followed up with creative and innovative presentations put together from the University of Colorado at Denver Technical Assistance Program (TAP). Three different potential plans were presented to the public and then there was a Q&A session.

We look forward to working with our partners and the public in eventually developing the best plan to serve the community.

In the coming days, look for a link that will allow for you to view the plans for yourself and to leave your feedback on what you would like to see happen with Frontier Center!

ESD Student Spotlight: Mya Noe, Elizabeth Middle School 7th Grader and Elbert County Fair Princess

Our next ESD Student Spotlight is Elizabeth Middle School 7th grader Mya Noe.

Mya is proud to have earned the title of Elbert County Fair Princess! Part of her responsibility is to travel around to spread word about the Elbert County Fair and the Western way of life.

Mya says her experience at Elizabeth Middle School has helped her with her confidence in the competitions, especially with the challenge of speaking in front of large crowds. You may have also spotted Mya riding a horse during this year's EHS Homecoming Parade.

Mya's inspiration for the competitions came from her sister, who also went down a similar path of rodeo royalty. She says she loves working with horses and interacting with the community.

Congratulations Mya on being named 2025 Elbert County Fair Princess!

Salute to our Veterans.

This week Elizabeth School District celebrated Veterans Day.

Both Running Creek Elementary School and Singing Hills Elementary held assemblies to honor our Veterans.

At Running Creek, the assembly included a patriotic song performance from the Kindergarteners, a slideshow, a moment of silence, Color Guard, Pledge of Allegiance, a chance to honor the Veterans in the audience and more.

Thank you to all of our brave and dedicated Veterans for your service and commitment to protecting our country!

Elizabeth Middle School NJHS is putting on a luncheon for Veterans. Due to the snowstorm, it has been rescheduled for November 18th at Elizabeth Middle School from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The RSVP deadline for that was earlier in the week and EMS students are looking forward to serving our vets!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE EHS ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM THANKSGIVING MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE EHS ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM THANKSGIVING

flyer for thanksgiving dinner for EHS alternative education

As the year moves along, we are once again getting to the holiday season.

On November 21, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., EHS’s Alternative Education Program will host its 2nd community Thanksgiving Dinner. Frontier High School students started this tradition 29 years ago, and they served hundreds of community members and cooked many turkeys for 23 years until the high school closed. We are excited to pick up that proud tradition with our Alternative Education Program at Elizabeth High School. We are partnering with Smokey Trail BBQ, who has graciously donated their time to smoke hams and turkeys for the event.

In addition, our students play the primary role in preparing and serving this meal as a way to say thank you to the community for their ongoing support. They learn firsthand the value of service and what it takes to host an event of this size. It is truly an honor for us to serve the community in this way.

Interested in making a pie donation for the event? We definitely need pies! Please bring 11/20 or 11/21. Contact Lori about your donation.

Please feel free to contact Lori Horton at lhorton@esdk12.org
