Stay in the know...a few reminders:
~ Upcoming Bond Referendum: We need YOU!!! We need to make sure that all of our Washington families, and the neighborhoods in which they live, are aware of the facts of the upcoming bond referendum AND that they remember to VOTE on, or before, November 7. If you would be at all interested in distributing a flier with all the facts of the upcoming referendum to your neighbors, just send me a quick email (ahagge1@isd77.org) letting me know how many fliers you'd like, and I'll get them to you. The Washington PTO feels strongly that many voices reminding friends and neighbors of the upcoming election would be a very impactful part of the referendum process. Please consider doing this if it all works for you--no need to engage in answering questions--just a simple sharing of the fact sheet and a reminder to please vote!
~ Lost & Found: We will be donating anything that is in Lost & Found next Wednesday, so please have your child check before then! See pictures below.
~ Walk-A-Thon: Thank you for your help and support of the PTO fundraiser. The PTO raised $8700 at this year's Walk-A-Thon. If you still have money to turn in, please do so ASAP. Thank you for support of this important fundraiser!
~ PIcture Retake Day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25.
~ MEA Break: As you likely know, there is NO SCHOOL on October 19 & 20 next week.
~ PTO Needs: IF you might be interested in being the Box Tops coordinator (we think the job is likely super duper easy and wouldn't require attending any meetings!) OR interested in the PTO secretary job, please let me know!
As always, thank you for your support--it matters!

A Vote to Revitalize Learning and Wellness Spaces at Mankato West High School
For over 70 years, Mankato West High School has been a cornerstone of our community, serving generations of students and families. Now, it is in need of critical improvements to its learning and wellness spaces in order to meet the needs of today’s learners and beyond.
Watch this brief video, where Principal Sherri Blasing and Activities Director Joe Johnson discuss the current facility challenges at Mankato West High School.
The November 7 referendum will fund the following updates and improvements at Mankato West High School:
Update and expand academic classrooms and flexible learning spaces
Renovate the existing gym area into a fine arts suite for band, choir and orchestra
Build a three-station gym, multi-purpose/wrestling room, locker rooms and classrooms
Convert the decommissioned 1950’s pool area into multi-purpose, flexible learning spaces for students
Build a competition and community use 8-lane pool at Dakota Meadows Middle School
These projects embody our forward-looking approach to providing our students with the best possible educational experience and fostering wellness within our community.
Learn more about the facilities bond referendum at www.isd77.org/vote2023 and make your plan to vote on or before November 7, 2023.
