World Language Honor Society Induction Ceremony 5/8
After a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Gilbert School is proud to announce the return of its World Language Honor Societies. These prestigious societies recognize students who have excelled in their study of Latin, Spanish and French, demonstrating not only academic achievement but also a passion for language and culture.
To celebrate this milestone, The Gilbert School will host its official Induction Ceremony on May 8, 2025, at 6:00 PM in The Gilbert School Library. During the ceremony, new members will be formally inducted into their respective societies, acknowledging their dedication to language learning and cultural appreciation.
The revival of these honor societies marks an important step in reestablishing traditions that encourage linguistic excellence and global awareness among students. Families, faculty, and friends are invited to attend the ceremony and celebrate the achievements of these outstanding language learners.

Another TGS Teacher Selected To Score AP Exams For The College Board!
Gilbert's own Magdalena Kruk has been invited to be an AP Reader for the AP Spanish Language and Culture exams this June. Ms. Kruk, a World Language teacher at TGS, is no stranger to scoring AP student exams for the College Board - she's been an active AP Exam Reader since 2016. She is joined by another TGS faculty member this year, Mr. Chris Affie, who will be an AP Reader for Computer Science.
AP Readers are responsible for scoring students’ free-response answers on the AP Exam or assessing a student’s portfolio. These scores are combined with performance on multiple-choice questions to determine students’ final scores of 1–5. The Advanced Placement Program states, "In June 2025, we anticipate that over 30,000 AP teachers and college faculty will evaluate and score free-response answers from millions of students from around the world." The experience offers AP teachers and college faculty a unique opportunity to collaborate on the shared task of scoring student work.
TGS is excited to have more than one faculty member selected for this important task!
TGS Hosts Aerial Drone Competition Tournament
The first-ever Gilbert Aerial Drone Competition is officially in the books! The Gilbert School hosted schools from across the Northeast in its first-ever Aerial Drone Competition Tournament on Saturday, March 22, welcoming teams from across the region, including our very own TGS Drone team. Students competed in the REC Foundation’s Aerial Drone Competition by showcasing their piloting and programming skills, and navigating their drones to complete obstacle courses and teamwork missions.
"While our teams didn't walk away with any awards," team advisor Mr. Craig Levesque commented, he's "still proud of how our students handled themselves, interacted with other teams (from CT, MA and VT), faced challenges and how far they have come since the beginning of the year."
For more information about the teams, please contact Mr. Craig Levesque at levesquec@gilbertschool.org.

7th Grade PARENTS: APRIL Hive Time Update
For the month of March, seventh grade students participated in “March Madness”, a month focusing on anger management skills. Each student was given a folder with a bracket of activities to look forward to throughout the month. Through these activities, students learned to navigate warning signs for their anger, how to communicate when they are angry, and how to cope with and decrease angry feelings.
In April, Hive Time will focus on learning about types of boundaries and identifying healthy boundaries with peers. Activities will include: situational role play, outdoor activities (weather permitting), and personal space.
School social workers will continue meeting with 7th grade students 2-3 times weekly in groups to provide social/emotional support, curriculum, and skill development lessons during Hive Time. If you would like more information about Hive Time for your middle school student, please contact Ms. Thompson at thompsonm@gilbertschool.org.

If you have any questions about which level/class your student was recommended for, you can reach out to the child's current subject teacher.
