Dear Audubon High School Community,

I want to personally thank the entire 100 Year Committee for helping plan the Audubon 100 Year Celebration on Sunday, October 18th. One of our teachers, Matt Webb, spent hours generating photos and putting together an incredible timeline in the Francis J. Ward Recreation Center for the entire community to see. This was a community effort in conjunction with the Audubon Fathers' Association and Audubon Borough to make this year of planning come to fruition.

Please join us for our OPEN HOUSE on Friday, November 20th. We look forward to our town and alumni joining us in celebrating the 100 years of PRIDE and EXCELLENCE by taking a walk through our halls to explore a variety of pictures and artifacts. If you haven't been at AHS since the year you graduated, we would love for you to experience some of the incredible renovations in our building.

Respectfully,

Jeffrey W. Lebb

Principal

BE THE 'I' IN KIND BE THE 'I' IN KIND

We are happy to have Chick-fil-A sponsor the BE THE "I" IN KIND AWARD at Audubon High School. There are so many students that go out of their way to help other students and teachers. In conjunction with our Character Education programs, these students make a difference and are a huge part of what makes Audubon such a special place. We would like to recognize some of our KIND students. Chick-fil-A has graciously donated gift cards to support our program and the KIND initiative.

Unified Champions Visit Haviland Unified Champions Visit Haviland

The Unified Champion Club visited Haviland today to share an important message with kindergarten students: Friends Come in All Forms! Club members in grades 7–12 led a short lesson about the importance of friendship, inclusion, and embracing our differences.

Following the lesson, students participated in an interactive activity where they shared their favorite animals while passing a string from one person to the next. The connected string served as a visual reminder that, although we may have different interests and opinions, we are all connected.

Our outreach group members who represented the Unified Champion Club and shared a glimpse of what Unified is all about with Haviland's Kindergarten students were:

Molly Maguire, Gabby Maguire, John Barbieri, Ella Gregson, Allison Szkotak, Vivian Colona, Casey Slavin, and Reagan Goudy.

8th Grade Toy Drive 8th Grade Toy Drive

Mr. Cosenza’s 8th grade social studies class has been learning about citizenship for the past few weeks. One of the main things they have learned is how to be an active participant in the community. This week they will be learning about how an average citizen can become a Civic Hero by going above and beyond. We will be collecting donations to create shoeboxes for children less fortunate in other countries. These donations are for the Samaritan Purse organization which helps people world wide. Their project will be to help get toys, personal care items and school supplies to children for the holidays. Please help by donating anything you can over the next few weeks. (Monetary donations will be used to add materials)

Production Arts students brought everyday objects to life in their first video production unit! Students explored the foundations of stop-motion animation, photographing small movements frame by frame to create the illusion of motion. They also learned about Foley sound design, the art of creating and recording sound effects to accompany what we see on screen. Working together to plan, animate, and edit their projects, students combined creative storytelling with new technical skills. Check out their finished animations below!

Field Hockey Updates Field Hockey Updates

It's been a great time for our field hockey team!

From hosting our annual Jr. Field Hockey program, to enjoying the Rowan vs Salisbury field hockey game, and ending October practices with team spirit week.

September/October we hosted our annual Jr. Field Hockey program for players in grades K-6. These players are introduced to the basic skills of field hockey through 1:1 time and fun games with the AHS field hockey players. The last week of October the team concluded their final week of practices with fun-themed practices, one of the most popular being NO STICK TUESDAY-play with anything but a stick! The girls got creative, from playing with a mop to a coat rack to a hairbrush.

The team also enjoyed a bus trip to watch Rowan vs Salisbury play under the lights. The girls enjoyed a little "tailgate BBQ" before the game while watching a VERY exciting game as well.

Our team has been building connections, making memories, and growing together on and off the field. Now it's time to turn our focus to the next chapter-PLAYOFFS.

Busy Month in the Media Center Busy Month in the Media Center

It was another busy month in the Media Center. Students spent time exploring new books, enjoying independent reading, and conducting research to support their learning across a variety of subjects. Whether discovering their next favorite read or developing important research and information literacy skills, our students continue to make the Media Center a vibrant hub of learning, curiosity, and discovery. In addition to classes, the Media Center also hosted college visits, guest speakers, professional development opportunities for staff and faculty, and a wide variety of club and organizational meetings before and after school. Stay tuned for another great month of reading and learning together!
