On The Table Macon On The Table Macon

zoom_out_map
The Bibb County School District participated in On The Table Macon this week. On the table is a one-of -a-kind opportunity to bring people together to have meaningful conversations about topics that are important to the community. Each team selected a student to participate. Mr. Groeper and those students had some great conversations!

TRIO Field Trip TRIO Field Trip

On Tuesday, March 4th, some of our 8th grade students, who are members of the Middle Georgia Center for Academic Excellence TRIO program, were able to attend Middle School Day at Clark Atlanta University. Students were able to learn about the rich history of this prestigious university, majors taught, dual enrollment, summer STEM programs, and clubs or activities they could get involved in upon matriculating at Clark Atlanta University. Students also participated in a STEM trivia game, completed a tour via a scavenger hunt, and ate lunch in the college dining hall. Students attended this awesome field trip with fellow middle school students within the Bibb County School District. Thank you to Middle Georgia Center for Academic Excellence for this great opportunity to expose our students to college options while in middle school.

Young Georgia Authors Competition Young Georgia Authors Competition

Each year, students have an opportunity to submit entries for the Young Georgia Authors Competition. The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics. Students have no prompt, and can choose to write a short story or poem. Congratulations to Mahi M. for placing 2nd at the district level for 8th grade! Her poem is below. She is pictured with Dr, Christian, District ELA Coordinator, and her ELA teacher, Mrs. Lucas.
