Good evening, Don Steed Elementary families! We hope everyone enjoyed a restful and refreshing long weekend. We are excited to say that we have made it to the last week of our 25-26 school year! Don’t forget that this Friday, May 29th, is an early release day at 11:30 am.

Families, please don’t forget that our 3rd-5th graders will be taking their EOG retests this week for any test that they were not proficient in during last week’s tests. We are looking forward to having all students at school each day on time, well-rested, and ready to do their best. Please plan accordingly, as early check-outs will not be permitted during testing sessions for any student who is taking a retest. Also, please remember that no cellular devices are allowed in the testing sites during these times. These include phones, smart watches, smart glasses, fitness trackers, and wireless earbuds. Thank you for your help in making testing as successful as possible.

Families, please remember that our awards ceremonies will continue this week with our fourth and fifth graders celebrating on Tuesday, May 26th, followed by third grade on Wednesday, May 27th. Our Pre-K ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 28th, and awards for Mrs. Rodzon and Mrs. Yates’s classes will be held on Friday, May 29th.

Please know that you are welcome to check students out after their ceremonies; however, a valid driver’s license will be required, and you must be on your student’s blue emergency card. Students will return to class until they are officially called for dismissal. Please check your child’s teacher’s platform for your designated cone location and check out the procedures for this day. To ensure safety, parents will not be permitted to walk under the breezeway for student pick-up. Additionally, students who have already been signed out will not be allowed to attend siblings’ ceremonies due to space limitations, though families may check out siblings together after the final ceremony of the day. All awards day reminders, specific times, as well as dismissal procedures for these days can be found on our social media page, our school website, and on your child’s teachers' platforms.

Finally, parents and families, please remember that if you have not yet had the opportunity to pay your child’s school fee, they are only $10. We appreciate your prompt attention to this, and we look forward to celebrating the first K–2 and 3–5 classes to reach 100% participation with a pizza party. We are also closing our after-school care accounts for the year, so please make sure you have paid your bill in full as soon as possible.
