Other topics to Mention:
iReady through CLEVER at home
Did you know your child can access iReady at home through CLEVER? It's easy, and it looks the same as it does here at school. iReady lessons continue on the path that your student is on here at school. If your student is home sick and you are looking for school work for them to do, iReady reading and math lessons would be perfect! Your child can use this link to access Clever from home Student Clever link, then sign in with their Dcsd email and password or Clever badge. I have extra Clever Badges to put in your child's planner, if you are interested.
CMAS:
CMAS testing begins in third grade. Third Graders will be assessed in math and language arts. Testing will begin on April 6th. Here is a link for more information on our state assessment:

Headphones:
Please check with your child to make sure their headphones are still working. Many headphones are broken and do not work, so if you are able to send in a new pair with your child, I would greatly appreciate it. We use them on a daily basis for our iReady lessons.
Water bottles:
Please make sure your child is bringing a spill-proof water bottle filled with water (only) every day. Thank you.
Pics of your room
This week we will continue our unit on fractions. We will wrap up comparing fractions using symbols by comparing the numerators and denominators to determine which fraction is greater or less. Then, we will begin our new focus on measuring length and plotting data on line plots.
In addition, we will continue with our timed practice. We will continue coloring in our multiplication sundaes as we pass each timed practice with 80% accuracy for our end of year multiplication ice cream sundae party.
A great site for practicing facts:

I highly recommend continuing to practice math fluency facts at home to help students become more confident and automatic with their multiplication. A few minutes of practice each day makes a big difference!
Pics of students
This week we will begin Unit 8: Weather and Climate. The essential question for this unit is, “How do we understand change?”
Students will read informational texts and practice using strategies to deepen their understanding. We will focus on several comprehension skills, including using information from both illustrations and the text, using context clues to determine the meaning of words, and identifying patterns within the text.
Writing:
Students will begin reading two articles and will work through the POWER cycle to respond to a prompt. They will use text evidence from both passages to support their thinking and answers.
Science/Social Studies:
This week, students will be staying with me for social studies. We will use our time to finish our historical narratives and begin our unit on geography..
