December was filled with meaningful opportunities for families to connect, learn, and engage across SD104.
On December 2, families participated in a hands-on Family Workshop in partnership with Little Red Schoolhouse. Together, families created pine cone bird feeders and festive Rudolph plant stake crafts using natural materials, while learning about bird adaptations and ways to support local wildlife. On December 3, SD104 hosted its second BPAC meeting of the school year. The meeting was well attended, with a full room of parents coming together to support bilingual and English Learner students. Families engaged in thoughtful discussion, shared perspectives, and strengthened our community commitment to student success.
To wrap up the season, on December 10, families joined us for a Holiday Arts & Crafts Family Workshop. Families enjoyed hot cocoa and cookies, created a variety of holiday crafts, and took festive photos with Frosty the Snowman. Each family went home with a keepsake picture frame featuring their photo with Frosty, making the evening both joyful and memorable.
These events reflect the strong partnership between families, staff, and community organizations and our continued commitment to creating welcoming, engaging spaces for all families.

Nos complace retomar nuestras sesiones de Movimiento Consciente este año e invitamos a las familias a unirse a nosotros en nuestra próxima sesión el martes 27 de enero de 2026, a las 18:00 en la sala de usos múltiples Graves/HMS. Esta relajante sesión de yoga se centrará en el alivio del estrés, el movimiento suave y el bienestar general. Habrá servicio de cuidado de niños disponible para facilitar la participación de las familias. Todas las familias son bienvenidas a participar y a moverse de forma consciente.
Parent Leadership Academy
The Parent Leadership Academy continues to grow and thrive. Participants enjoyed an enriching visit to the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen, where they learned about the history of the art form and created meaningful nichos filled with symbolism and personal expression. We extend our sincere thanks to the National Museum of Mexican Art for their collaboration in providing this engaging workshop.
In addition, families had the opportunity to meet with our partner organization and participate in training on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families. Through weekly trainings and ongoing support of students and teachers, the Parent Leadership Academy continues to strengthen family engagement and leadership across our school community.
