Trussville City Schools Hosts Special Olympics
Cahaba’s Enrich Showcase was a wonderful celebration of creativity and learning as all 14 Enrich classes shared their work with families and friends. Students proudly presented products they created, invited families to try math challenges, and showcased projects they have been developing. These classes are led by our 4th and 5th grade teachers along with our specialists and GATE teachers, making it a true team effort across our school.
Enrich classes are designed around student interests while building skills in writing, presentation, and digital literacy. This year’s offerings included Disney Imagineering, LitWits, Math Magicians, Net Ninjas, Origami, Cahaba Social, Musical Theater, Mentors, Rooms Reimagined, Cahaba Trailblazers, World Travelers, Math Masters, Ceramics, and Cahaba Authors. The showcase highlighted not only what students learned, but also their confidence, collaboration, and creativity.
A Magical Performance at Paine Elementary
Paine Elementary School’s Musical Theater Program proudly presented Disney’s Aladdin KIDS this past week, and it was truly an outstanding production.
From the creative props and beautifully designed set to the impressive acting and stage presence, our students demonstrated incredible dedication, talent, and teamwork. Their hard work was evident in every scene, and they truly shined on stage.
We are so proud of each and every student who participated, as well as the staff and volunteers who helped bring this production to life. Bravo to our Paine performers for an unforgettable show!
Congratulations to HTHS Engineering Students on Successful NASA Presentations
Two teams from the HTHS Engineering Academy presented their final designs to a team of NASA engineers on Thursday. The team of Nicholas Davis and Syed Abidi designed a zero-gravity hygiene system to be utilized in space by astronauts. A typical shower is not an option in a zero-gravity environment because the water would break up and then could be inhaled by the astronauts. The team of Grayson Benzaia, Liam McGinnis, and Nathan Mullinax designed a robot that would be utilized by astronauts on the moon and Mars. The robot would jump high into the low gravity atmosphere and take aerial photos to help with astronaut exploration and navigation. The teams will be notified soon to see if they are invited to Houston to present their ideas to NASA scientists, engineers, and astronauts.
The Engineering Academy recently hosted the Alabama Power Girls in Engineering program. A team of engineers from Alabama Power and Southern Company engaged with a group of students from HTMS, discussing various engineering careers. The participants explored different branches of engineering and the career opportunities available to them. The day's focus was on chemical engineering, where the students learned about chemical bonds and created their own lip gloss. The program concluded with a game of engineering jeopardy. Thanks to the team of engineers from Alabama Power for providing these enriching activities and lessons to our students.

A Memorable "Snow Day' with James Spann at Paine Elementary
Paine Elementary experienced a fun and unexpected “snow day” that students will not soon forget. What made the day even more special was that it coincided with a planned visit from local meteorologist James Spann for our kindergarten students.
Kindergarteners had the unique opportunity to learn all about weather from one of the very best. Mr. Spann shared his expertise and explained how he was able to predict the snowy conditions, turning an already exciting day into an unforgettable, real-world learning experience.
It was a perfect combination of hands-on learning and unexpected fun, creating lasting memories for our youngest learners.
