The Shamrock Blast 8/13/2026
The Official Newsletter for WWS
Hey Shamrocks, check out one of our biggest newsletters ever -- Be sure to read through the whole thing! There's a LOT of important information for the whole district and community in this edition. We can't wait to welcome students back on Monday 🍀
Cool Creek Elementary Grand Opening
WWS celebrated the grand opening of Cool Creek Elementary on August 11, marking a new chapter for a building that has served generations of Westfield families. Formerly Westfield Intermediate and Washington Elementary, the renovated school will welcome its first students August 17 and continue a longstanding tradition of learning and growth.
Transportation Center Ribbon Cutting
WWS’s new Transportation Center gives transportation staff expanded space for daily operations, driver training, collaboration, and professional development as they serve a growing number of students and families.
As we begin another school year, I find myself thinking about what it means to be a community. Westfield Washington Schools is more than a collection of buildings, classrooms, programs, and activities. We are a community of students, families, educators, staff members, and neighbors connected by something important: a shared commitment to our children and their future.
Two WMS students represented Westfield on the national stage at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. Incoming eighth graders Rivika Srivastava and Henry Stinson competed in events that turned months of research and hands-on work into real-world projects, with Rivika earning second place nationally in her event.
Food Services Updates
New Online Menus
School breakfast and lunch menus are now available online at https://menus.healthepro.com/organizations/3660. Families can select their student's school to view the appropriate menu. A QR code on the menu page (scroll down on the menu to the right) also provides access to the mobile app.
Uncrustables with Peanut Butter
Beginning this school year, WWS Food Services will offer peanut butter Uncrustables in place of SunButter sandwiches. WWS schools have not been peanut-free as students have been free to pack items with peanut butter; however, the change is that now Uncrustables with peanut butter will be available from Food Services. Nurses are aware, but please check your student’s Lunchtime portal and contact your school’s nurse to make sure allergies are updated.
Elementary A La Carte Options
Elementary students will have additional a la carte options available daily. Cookies, pudding, and Juicy Juice boxes will be available for $1. Chips, ice cream, and Uncrustable sandwiches will be available for $1.50. Students may purchase a maximum of two a la carte items per lunch.
Students must have sufficient funds in their lunch account to make an a la carte purchase. Families who do not want their student purchasing some or all of these items can add restrictions through the Lunchtime portal. Available restrictions include cookies, Juicy Juice, pudding, Uncrustables, chips and ice cream. All snacks offered meet applicable state and federal School Nutrition Program and Smart Snacks guidelines.
Grade 6 Lunch Price
Because sixth-grade students will share a cafeteria with K-5 students at Cool Creek Elementary this year, the sixth-grade lunch price has been reduced from $3.35 to $3.10 for the 2026-27 school year. When sixth grade moves to the new Westfield Middle School for 2027-28, the lunch price will return to the middle school rate.
Please visit this page for a brief overview of the new personal device policies WWS is implementing in order to comply with Indiana State Law. For the full policies, please refer to student handbooks (linked in the post).
Financial Dashboard
WWS has launched the first iteration of a new Financial Dashboard designed to provide a clearer look at district finances. The page includes budget progress, revenue and expenditures, monthly and fund activity, and context to help explain the numbers.
More than 120 school groups, businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations joined WWS families for this year’s Rock The Block. From student performances and activities to community resources and a blood drive, the annual event helped Shamrocks reconnect, discover opportunities, and celebrate the start of a new school year.
