Friday, November 20 | 7 PM | Woodstock City Hall
On Friday, November 20, join Woodstock Pride as we observe Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR), honoring the transgender and gender-expansive people whose lives have been lost to anti-transgender violence and hate.
We’ll begin gathering at 7 PM in front of Woodstock City Hall, with a candlelight vigil till 7:30 PM. We’ll then walk together, away from the Flock cameras, to the Woodstock Pride Community Center for a time of reflection, connection, and community.
This is a solemn occasion, but it is also an opportunity to hold space for one another, share our grief, and reaffirm that transgender lives matter. Attendees are welcome to speak, recite a poem, sing a song, or share whatever they feel moved to offer in remembrance.
Candles and light refreshments will be provided.
Whether you come to share, to listen, or simply to stand in solidarity, you are welcome. We hope you’ll join us as we remember those we’ve lost and support the community members who continue to face discrimination and violence.

What We're Reading
Fog Harbor Mysteries by Sebastian Hart
Elias Thorne comes to the small, fishing town of Fog Harbor when he inherits a
bookstore from his elderly aunt. He intended to do what he could to set the place to
rights, sell it, and move on, but when he discovers a body, he becomes a key suspect in
a murder. Even after he’s able to clear his name, he realizes that he wants to stick
around to solve the mystery. (And yes, there’s a tall-dark-and-handsome detective
named Silas who probably has something to do with Elias’ change in plans.)
What makes Elias standout is that he is an archivist, and Hart has done the research to
get deep, deep into the weeds of paper, ink, binding, printing, and a host of archival
preservation and forensic techniques. Hart’s mysteries hinge on documentary evidence,
and questions about who gets to shape stories we tell ourselves are history. There’s
also enigmatic dialogue, surprising metaphors, and Lord Byron, the world’s best
grumpy, entitled cat.
Each mystery is a stand-alone, but it’s worth reading the series in order for the
cozy/slow-burn (very, very slow – you have to like “found family” comfort versus spice)
romance. You can check out Hart’s website for a Welcome file including a map of Fog
Harbor, character intros, and bonus mystery.
What We're Watching
Glow Up: The Next Makeup Star
This delightful, British makeup competition on Netflix brings together a group of young,
talented makeup artists and tests their skills and creativity in a variety of real-world
challenges from beauty to extreme special effects. If this had just been about making
models pretty, it wouldn’t be as exciting as it is, but the contestants are rewarded for
boldness of vision, and the looks many of them produce are startling and unforgettable.
There’s drag, of course (how could there not be?!), including an episode guest hosted
by the fabulous Trixie Mattel, and several of the artists are nonbinary or use makeup in
a gender-fluid way. The show as a whole carries a powerful, inspiring message about
taking creative risks and expressing yourself because the range of what’s possible is so
much wider than you might think.
