GREETINGS GREETINGS

With our annual Awards Chapel just concluded today, and the Junior-Senior Banquet now behind us, we’re stepping fully into a season of celebration and reflection. With Seniors’ Last Day of School coming up next week, there’s a noticeably different energy on campus. We’re soaking in all these meaningful “lasts” and the milestones that come with them.

Whether you're a staff member, parent, or student reading this, I’m praying you find joy in this season. It may feel a bit like a zoo at times, but it truly is a gift. Take it in. Enjoy reading this week’s newsletter.

Dr. Brian Verwolf

Head Administrator

The Wolfpack Edge serves as our weekly communication, sent out every Thursday during the school year, to our parent community. Grandparents & supporters may request to receive the communication, too. Interested in getting the Wolfpack Edge in your inbox? Visit here to sign up!

Our chapel block this week was a time of worship and a celebration of gifts. Our Worship Arts & Leadership Class led and organized our time of praise, and then we transitioned into the awards and recognition program. We praise God for the ways in which He works in the lives of our students, and we want to recognize students who are developing and using a wide variety of gifts from God. We recognize that many students honor God with gifts that are not measurable or even visible in an academic setting, and it’s our desire to give Him all the glory for all His gifts!

Please consider joining us for chapel by subscribing to Western Christian High School Livestreams on YouTube.

As appreciation days continue throughout the end of the school year, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible people who faithfully serve the Western Christian community each day. From our teachers to our head administrator, lunch ladies, support teams, and so many others behind the scenes — thank you for the ways you continuously pour into our students.

Their dedication, encouragement, servant hearts, and daily commitment do not go unnoticed. We are deeply grateful for all you do to support the WC community and for the countless ways you continue building His Kingdom through your work, relationships, and example. Take a moment with us to say, "Thank you!"

Attendance Reminder Attendance Reminder

As we move through the final stretch of the school year, we want to emphasize the importance of consistent student attendance. Daily attendance supports academic progress, classroom routines, and meaningful learning experiences during an especially important time of year.

Consistent attendance also helps provide stability and continuity for students, teachers, and staff. We know that appointments and other commitments arise; however, when possible, we ask families try to schedule appointments outside the school day to minimize missed instructional time.

Thank you for partnering with us and helping students finish the year strong!

REMINDERS & UPDATES REMINDERS & UPDATES

Next week, Western Christian will be recognizing Mental Health Awareness Week through a variety of dress-up days focused on important topics affecting so many students and families.

Each color represents a different area of awareness and advocacy as we work to encourage kindness, support, and meaningful conversations within our school community. We invite all students and staff to participate as we stand together to remind others that they are seen, valued, and never alone.

SENIORS: Photos Needed!

We are still missing pictures from several seniors. They have been emailed requesting them. The newspapers are starting to request the photos, so get these in ASAP. Reminder on specifics: The picture should be a vertical pose. Pictures can be dropped off in the office or given to Mrs. de Boom. For the yearbook and newspapers digital pictures can be emailed to karinda.deboom@westernchristianhs.com. A printed vertical wallet size is needed for the wall class composite. The wallet size must be 2 ½” x 3 ½”. Please don’t turn in a wallet from Snap Fish. We have found that they are smaller than the needed 2 ½” x 3 ½” size needed.

Athletics

  • As we transition into all our spring athletes and morning weightlifters utilizing the locker rooms, please make sure we are taking our items home each night and keeping the floor and locker rooms clean so our custodial staff can go in and clean the floors each week.
  • We are searching for a Jr. High coach for our softball program. If you know of anyone, please pass the name on to Derek Keizer/Travis Kooima.

What Helps Students Love Their Christian School?

What helps students truly love their school? Is it the high-quality teaching, the depth of the friendships, the beauty of the campus, or the way faith and learning intersect? Every Christian school leader has pondered these questions, often relying on instinct, observation, or anecdotal feedback. But what if students themselves—across many schools—could tell us, with data to back it up, what actually matters most?
