Day of the Dead Family Fun!
Please join us! This Tuesday, we will be creating papel picado and marigold garlands. We will add the four natural elements to our ofrenda as a community of artists and friends together. You can take home a Mother Nature's marigold or two too!
Each week we will be adding more student-created art to our ofrenda installation. Each additional artwork will tell the story of this cherished folk art tradition and cultural celebration in its own way. We will share our culminating collaboration at our upcoming Eco-Art Fest 2022.
Thank you Sandra, Vanessa, Marilyn and Juana for your good work, creativity and support:)!

NOVEMBER 2-16, 3022!
Back to the Co-LAB-atory...
We are busy exploring what kind of WILDCATS we are! We have used personification and watercolor to explore how kindness and gratitude guide us in our unique passions. Students have looked at varied artists such as Joan Miro, Beatrix Potter and Yuko Higuchi as they have expressed this surrealist rendering. Artworks will be featured at our eco-art fest.
We are wrapping up printmaking and collage as 5th & 7th graders make their PROCESS part of their PRODUCT for our upcoming show...We will be showcasing our collagrah plates as the centerpiece of a variety of triptych assemblages---big and SMALL! These artworks will share space with our growing self portraits honoring Elmer and Sister Corita throughout our exhibition. Look for both the plates and prints!
Our primary harvest prints will feature early art concepts---composition and color theory. Our primary still-life potato prints hope to partner with leaf creature landscapes soon...
We are workshopping numerous forms of symmetry, transformation and duality as we reference Indigenous stories of thanksgiving throughout November. Students will have a variety of studio choices to wrap up their visual art experience for the first semester.
WE ARE UPCYCLING STYROFOAM for an upcoming installation. Please bring any large ONLY Styrofoam to the Main Office for the Art Lab. Thanks in advance:)!
With Kindness,
