Dwelling in Possibility in an Age of AI Dwelling in Possibility in an Age of AI

In recent weeks, two essays have circulated widely in business and technology circles—each offering a different perspective on the accelerating rise of artificial intelligence. One warned that the pace of change is so rapid it could fundamentally reshape professional work in just a few years. The other cautioned that much of what looks like productivity may simply be performance.

In this week’s message, I reflect on what these perspectives mean for us as a PK3–8 Episcopal school. If AI can increasingly perform tasks once reserved for human expertise, what becomes our enduring responsibility? How do we prepare students not just to use powerful tools, but to understand them? To question them? To discern the difference between output and insight?

At St. Luke’s, dwelling in possibility means neither panic nor posture. It means forming young people of character, judgment, and courage—students who know not only how to make the number go up, but why the number matters in the first place.

I invite you to read this reflection on how community, formation, and thoughtful innovation position St. Luke’s for this moment—and for the future our students are inheriting.

Parish Work Day - Saturday, Feb. 28 @ 9:30 a.m.

One way the community of St. Luke's fulfills its mission is through the generous giving of time to the many tasks that support the life of our church.

On Saturday, February 28, we invite you to join us for a morning of outdoor work to beautify the campus at St. Luke's. Our primary focus will be raking and clearing leaves to refresh and care for our grounds. Please bring a rake if you have one.

The day lasts from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon. Consider joining us for this important day of service and fellowship.
