Advice from the Principal: A Small Note That Can Make a Big Difference
Hi Falcons,
Our students are in a truly pivotal stage of their lives. Even when it feels like they aren’t listening, they are. They hear more than we realize, and they need reminders and boosts of encouragement as often as we can give them.
You may not always see the impact of your words right away, but trust me, your child needs you now more than ever.
Here’s my secret challenge for you:
The next time you’re at the store, pick up a pack of sticky notes. Each day, write your child a short message. Tell them you love them. Encourage them. Celebrate something they’re doing well. If they need a reminder to read their 20 minutes, write that too, keep it simple and positive.
Then, have fun with where you place the notes. Put a note under their pillow, on the bathroom mirror, on their favorite cup, or even on a banana they’ll grab before school. The more unexpected, the better.
I promise you, this small sticky note challenge can have a powerful impact. It shows your child that you see them, you believe in them, and you are behind them every step of the way.
If you try it, please stop me at parent-teacher conferences and let me know how it’s going. I would love to hear your stories.
Good luck and have fun with it!

Spotlight for Mr. Helbig
“I’m a Colorado native and proud PE teacher who is passionate about helping students develop a love for fitness, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits. I attended CSU and UNC, where I played football and studied communications and sports and exercise science, which shaped my enthusiasm for athletics and education.
Outside of school, I stay involved in the community by coaching football and basketball at local high schools. When I’m not coaching or teaching, I enjoy spending time on the golf course. I’m also excited to be getting married in 2026!”
