Mr Lisseman - Headteacher

Dear Parents & Carers,

It has been a very busy and exciting week at Twickenham School, with students taking part in a wide range of activities both in and beyond the classroom.

Year 9 students enjoyed a screening of the musical Hamilton, giving them the chance to experience one of the most celebrated modern musicals. Continuing the theatrical theme, our Year 9 English master learners visited the Globe Theatre to see Romeo and Juliet, bringing Shakespeare’s famous tragedy to life in the setting for which it was originally written.

Year 11 Geography students have been out completing their GCSE fieldwork, gathering the data they will use in their coursework and gaining valuable first-hand experience of geographical investigation. At the same time, some of our students had the opportunity to visit the Fever-Tree headquarters in Shepherd’s Bush for careers mentoring, where they were able to learn more about the world of work and hear directly from professionals about their career journeys.

Our GCSE Drama students have also been undertaking their practical examinations this week, and they performed superbly. Their confidence, preparation and creativity were clear to see, and we are incredibly proud of the standard they achieved.

Finally, the week ended on a joyful note with our World Book Day celebrations. Students were invited to dress up as their favourite book characters, and it was wonderful to see so many creative costumes around the school as everyone embraced the spirit of the day and celebrated a shared love of reading. We were also delighted to welcome a performance poet who entertained students with a lively and engaging session, while also speaking about careers in English and poetry and the many ways that a love of language can lead to exciting opportunities.

We were also delighted this week that offers for our new Year 7 students joining in September have now been sent out. It is always a very exciting moment in the school calendar as we begin to look ahead to welcoming the next cohort of students to Twickenham School. We look forward to meeting many of our new families over the coming months as they prepare to join our school community.

Student Bulletin Student Bulletin

Each Monday morning in tutor time, students and their form tutors review the weekly student bulletin. This is a round up of all the important information, notices and reminders that they need to know. The bulletin is also posted on the screens around school so they can refer back to it at any time.

Ms Wilson - Librarian

We were so excited to see so many students celebrating World Book Day in fantastic dress-up costumes, bringing their favourite book characters to life around the school.

It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for reading, with students and staff sharing their love of books and stories throughout the day. From classic characters to modern favourites, the creativity on display was brilliant.

World Book Day is a great reminder of how powerful and enjoyable reading can be, and it was fantastic to see our school community coming together to celebrate it.

The poet Keith Jarrett visited our school as part of World Book Day to perform his poetry to us and to talk about his career so far. We even made a year group poem just by thinking of one line on the theme of home and our senses.

Keith also presented the runners up certificates and the winners their book prize for our 3D Book Cover Competition. The book covers are now displayed in the library.

Mrs Morgan - Head of English

On Wednesday 4th March we took 30 Year 9 students to see Romeo and Juliet at the Globe Theatre. As they will be studying the text after the Easter holidays, this was a wonderful introduction to the key themes and plot. The students had a great time and represented the school wonderfully with their engagement and excitement. We look forward to hearing how their experience influences their study of the text.

PTA Rugby parking - Volunteers needed please PTA Rugby parking - Volunteers needed please

It was wonderful that so many parents were able to volunteer to help with the rugby car parking on Saturday. All spaces were filled in the end and it really is a case of the more the merrier when it comes to the day. We were particularly pleased to have the help of 4 school pupils who came with their parents and assisted us so brilliantly - the customers were really impressed! The have all been given 5 praise points for their demonstration of the school's values.

Particular mention also to Mark (another year 8 parent) who won the prize draw this week.

Our next event is the 11th April (the last weekend of the Easter holidays) so please check if you are available to help
