Give Drink to the Thirsty Give Drink to the Thirsty

Dear SPCS Families,

As we continue our journey through the Corporal Works of Mercy, our next focus is “Give Drink to the Thirsty.”

At first, this may seem like one of the simplest Works of Mercy. Someone is thirsty, so we offer them something to drink. But as I reflect on our theme this year, “Lord, Help Me to See,” I believe God is asking us to look a little deeper.

There are people all around us who are thirsty for things that cannot be poured into a cup.

There is a child who is thirsty for friendship because they feel left out.

There is a parent who is thirsty for encouragement because life feels overwhelming.

There is a teacher who is thirsty for patience and understanding after a difficult day.

There is a neighbor who is thirsty for companionship because they are lonely.

And there may be someone sitting right beside us who is simply thirsty to know that someone sees them, cares about them, and believes they matter.

This is where our SPCS community can make a difference.

At Saint Peter Cathedral School, we often talk about being “The School with a Heart in the Heart of the City.” Those words should describe more than where our school is located. They should describe who we are and how we live.

Jesus tells us, “I was thirsty and you gave me drink.” (Matthew 25:35) He reminds us that when we care for another person, we are caring for Him.

This month, I challenge each member of our SPCS family to ask:

Who around me is thirsty—and what can I give?

Maybe it is a bottle of water. But perhaps it is also a smile, an invitation to join a game, a kind word, a listening ear, forgiveness, encouragement, or simply a few moments of our time.

Our children are watching how we treat one another. Together, let us teach them that being a person of faith means seeing a need and responding with love.

Have a blessed week ahead.

SPCS Prayer Partners SPCS Prayer Partners

At Saint Peter Cathedral School, each student is paired with a Prayer Partner, bringing students across grade levels together to grow in faith, friendship, and service. Through prayer, special activities, and time spent together throughout the year, these relationships help build a strong sense of family within our school community while encouraging our students to care for, support, and pray for one another. Checkout pictures from this week's prayer partner activity.
