The Galaxy Press is the free newsletter for the Kerr Elementary PTA. The newsletter contains articles about ongoing and upcoming PTA events, reminders, and news from our school. The Galaxy Press is published on Thursdays, on a bi-weekly schedule (unless there is a holiday). Be sure to scroll all the way through for important information and exciting events!

Dear Kerr Community,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! Whether you are returning to Kerr or joining our school family for the very first time, we are so excited to have you as part of our vibrant community.

A new school year brings fresh energy, new friendships, and endless opportunities for our students to grow and thrive. Behind the scenes, the Kerr PTA has been hard at work planning an incredible lineup of events, enrichment programs, and support initiatives designed to make this year unforgettable for our kids and teachers alike.

Why Join the PTA?

When you join the Kerr PTA, you aren't just signing up for a committee—you are actively investing in your child’s educational experience. Every membership, event, and volunteer hour directly benefits our students. Here is how your support makes an impact:

Funding Student Programs: We help sponsor educational assemblies, student events, classroom technology, and grade-level enrichment.

Supporting Our Educators: From classroom supplies grants to staff appreciation events, we ensure our teachers feel valued and equipped.

Building Community: Events like Spirit Nights, Cultural Share, Book Fairs, & seasonal festivals bring our families together.

Advocating for Our Kids: Joining the PTA gives you a voice in the decisions affecting our school and district.

How You Can Get Involved

There is no "one right way" to be a PTA member. Whether you can volunteer weekly in the library, help out at a single event, or simply support us by paying your annual dues, every level of participation counts.

Become a Member: Join our PTA! Joining does not obligate you to volunteer, but it does support our school directly!

Follow Us: Stay connected by following our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram, and reading our bi-weekly newsletters for updates, volunteer calls, and event dates.

Attend Our First Meeting: Mark your calendars for our first general PTA meeting on September 3rd in the Kerr Elementary Cafeteria. We will also kicking off the year with a Watch D.O.G.S pizza party.

Thank you in advance for your time, generosity, and commitment to making Kerr the best place for our children to learn and grow. Let’s make this school year our best one yet!

Our PTA is made up of hard-working volunteers - both parents & teachers who pool their talents to provide practical support for our school. Those listed below volunteered to provide leadership for the 2026-2027 school year. Get to know their names and faces, and feel free to ask them if you have questions.

By simply joining the PTA, you are advocating on behalf of all children (including your own)! No additional time commitment is required! Additionally, every membership purchased provides instant financial support for our students! It's also a great way to stay informed about what's happening at school and connect in meaningful ways with other parents.

Volunteering is truly a work of heart and seeing how much it means to the children and teachers, makes it all worth it. If you would like to find out more information on becoming a volunteer, please submit your interest. We are looking forward to a great school year and are excited to have you help out our Kerr community!

All volunteers must have an approved AISD background check.

Kerr PTA has partnered with the City of Allen's Keep Allen Beautiful program to adopt Glendover Drive! Join Comet Cleanup Crew on Monday, September 14 from 3-4pm for our first cleanup to pickup trash to help keep our neighborhood beautiful!

Bring your friends and family and join the fun on Friday, August 28th! Every ticket purchased between 6pm-8pm supports our Kerr students, teachers and PTA! 🎉

Did you know that each grade level has their own Facebook group? Connect with other families in your child's grade! You can share field trip photos, ask questions, and even meet your child's bestie's parents.

Please note: These Facebook groups are run by some wonderful Kerr parents and are not sponsored by PTA. However, we love to foster connection between our Kerr families and hope this helps those that would like to join!

Don't miss an important event or school announcement! We did the hard work for you. Subscribe to our PTA calendar for flawless integration into your Google calendar or iCal.

It's easy to do! Visit our website and go to My Account > Calendar Subscriptions. Select the calendars you'd like to subscribe to - PTA events like movie nights, bookfair and Culture Share will automatically update to your calendar. You can also subscribe to the school calendar to update your calendar with school holidays, parent/teacher conferences, etc.

To access this feature, you'll need to create an account on our website. While you're there, take a look around and sign up for PTA membership!

Joining PTA supports academic programs, family events and so much more! The PTA works with school administration and staff, community leaders, and other parents on behalf of our kids. Being involved in your child's school matters and it makes a difference! Join us on this journey.

BONUS! Did you know that becoming a PTA member also grants you access to our member directory? If a family has opted in to share information, parents can view emails and contact information for their student's classmates. A great way to organize playdates and fun with your student's friends!
