Tryouts and Auditions begin this week! We have a full schedule of fall activities about to begin and we can't wait to see your students share their skills. The dates and locations are listed below. All tryouts are at MS 50 from 2:40-4:00PM.

Our first Parent-Teacher Conference of the year is a Virtual Curriculum Night next week Thursday, September 18 from 5:30-8:00PM! You will get a chance to hear from Principal Honoroff, the PTA, your child's grade team, and individual teachers. We will have more information in next week's newsletter but you can check out the web platform now at ms50.org/ptc.

All NYCPS buildings conduct emergency procedure drills including evacuation and lockdown drills by law each school year. This year, all emergency drills will be communicated in advance to families through the weekly newsletter. Please read a letter from Mr. Honoroff detailing our full General Response Protocol to emergency situations and review the scheduled drills below.

Want to learn more about our new staff and returning teachers? At next week's Virtual Curriculum Night we will share letters from all the grade teams with bios from all of our teachers!

Our National Champion Debate Team was recently featured in Chalkbeat for taking home first place at the NSDA National Tournament this spring! A national news program has picked up the story and are coming to MS 50 on Thursday to conduct interviews and capture footage of our school, so you may see a camera crew at drop-off! Families of students whose classrooms will be visited by the news team will be receiving a phone call from Ms. Sostre and a separate consent form on Tuesday. We are proud of students and excited to share their accomplishments on a national stage!

The PTA is excited to welcome you to a new year at MS 50! We are excited to partner with you all this year as we work together to support our students, the school community, and each other. Our first meeting of the year will be held virtually during Virtual Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 18. Stay tuned for more information and details about the meeting.
