Sullivan Rotary Honors Chris Stitzle as 2025 Parade Grand Marshal
The Sullivan Rotary Club is proud to announce that Mr. Chris Stitzle will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal!
- Parade Date: Saturday, September 20, 2025
- Time: 1:00 PM
- Theme: "Small Town"
Mr. Stitzle is beginning his 40th year with the Southwest School Corporation and is currently serving in his 14th year as Superintendent. Throughout his career, he has worn many hats—teacher, coach, athletic director, principal, and now superintendent—always dedicating himself to the success of our students, staff, and community.
He is passionate about creating a positive learning environment, building lasting relationships, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. His leadership, along with the support of educators, staff, and the community, has been key to the district’s success.
Above all, Chris is grateful for the love and support of his family, his wife Erika and their son Derek, who have been by his side through his lifelong career in education.
Join us in congratulating Mr. Stitzle on this well-deserved honor and come celebrate with us at the parade!
RWE Clean Energy Supports Golden Arrow Golf with Generous Donation
Southwest School Corporation is proud to recognize the generosity of RWE Clean Energy, which recently contributed $1,500 toward the purchase of a golf simulator for Sullivan High School’s golf program.
This donation was made possible through the efforts of Coach Clarence Johnson, who secured the funding to support both the boys’ and girls’ golf teams. The simulator will provide athletes with advanced training opportunities year-round, helping them refine their skills, analyze their swings, and stay competitive in all seasons.
SWSC extends its gratitude to RWE Clean Energy for investing in our student-athletes and to Coach Johnson for his dedication to building opportunities for our golf program.
A Gift of Music: Steinway Grand Piano Donated to Sullivan High School
Sullivan High School is honored to announce the addition of a Steinway Model M grand piano, generously given to the school through the trust of the late Ruth Ann Kimmell. This beautifully maintained instrument, valued at approximately $30,000, is now housed in the high school auditorium and will be featured in concerts and other music performances.
We are truly grateful for this extraordinary gift that will enrich the musical experiences of our students and community for years to come.
Mrs. Shunk (SHS Band and Choir Director) invites everyone to attend upcoming choir concerts and other performances to experience the beautiful sound of this remarkable piano.
